Walker Janek, Houston Astro. Janek has been on a bit of a power binge in Arizona, hitting his third homer of the AFL. Janek's appeal here is that he is a good defensive catcher who, during his best seasons, might hit 20 homers. The Astros did not have the season they would have hoped, but there is some young talent here, and you never know what the ownership is going to do and who they are going to spend money on. But Janek has a chance to carve out some playing time with the Astros as quickly as next year.
Longtime readers of the sheet know I have been a big fan of Lin for a while now. There is a lot to like here, even if I contend he is a reliever. The sinker is good, getting up to 98, and it gets some whiffs. Lin generated 7 whiffs in this one as he was able to help the Desert Dogs secure a win over the Sagueros. The slider has taken some strides here. Interestingly enough, in this one, the changeup wasn't utilized all that much, which might be one of his better pitches. I really hope the Cards don't over-marinate him in Triple-A like they tend to do with their other pitchers.
He's not my Alvarez, which would also mean he's Nacho Alvarez. A 2-for-4 day for the Braves prospect who is a grab bag of 5's. He is able to contribute in a few different areas; he has some power, he has some speed, and can play a few different defensive positions. He provides the Braves some cover at a few different spots defensively. The appeal here in fantasy is he might hit in a good lineup, get a few different defensive positions, and collect solid homer and steal numbers.
