Switz brings us the third midweek College Daily Sheet, where midweek college baseball action remained in full swing, with standout performances stealing the spotlight across the country.
With the third week of college baseball behind us, teams are shifting into conference play, marking a crucial stretch of the season. As the competition heats up, our draft team is in full throttle, preparing to release the expanded Top 100 College Board early next week.
For this edition of the Mid-Week Daily Sheet, we’re keeping it brief, highlighting eight of the top midweek performances from around the country and next week we will return to our usual, covering draft values and midweek performers on the midweek daily sheet. Let’s dive in!
Rinehart has kept his foot on the gas early this season, and in Monday’s one-sided win over Queens, he showcased the power in his bat, launching a deep home run in the fifth inning into the deepest part of Monongalia County Ballpark.
A sneaky-tools transfer that WVU landed out of the portal last summer, Rinehart is already proving to be a key piece of the Mountaineers’ lineup. If they want to make another tournament run, his production will be critical.
His fifth-inning blast marked his first home run of the season, and he’s been doing damage across the board, now slashing .435/.519/.739/1.258 with a 14.3% strikeout rate. As mentioned, Sunday, there is some Day 3 value here if he continues to show consistent bat-to-ball skills. However, flashing more power at the plate and even collecting a few more free passes (7.1% walk rate heading into the weekend) could push him into late Day 2 draft conversation as the season progresses. There is an arrow next to Rinehart’s name.
It wasn’t the outcome the Huskies were hoping for on their trip out west, but the pitching clinic, grit, and sheer endurance displayed by Bowery was nothing short of remarkable. In an era where pitch counts and bullpen usage dominate the game, where else are you going to see a college arm throw 10 innings (108 pitches) in a single outing?
Not only did Bowery grind through 10 frames, but he even took the mound for the 11th before finally being pulled after allowing baserunners in extra innings. His willingness to empty the tank is a testament to his toughness and value on the mound.
So far this season, Bowery has continued to give everything he’s got for Northeastern, building off a solid 2024 campaign where he posted a 4.96 ERA with a 39:12 K-to-BB ratio over 16 games (5 starts) and spent the summer as a mainstay on the Cape for league champion Harwich.
Early on in 2025, he’s proving he’s ready for an even bigger role, currently sporting a 1.20 ERA through two starts while showcasing his durability and competitiveness on the mound. As a softer-throwing lefty (FB averages upper 80’s topping 90/91), Bowery will look to grind out a strong season this spring to garner Day 3 draft consideration for an organization seeking a reliable, pitchability-driven arm.
