Friday night delivered high-impact performances across the national stage, as some of the top teams and draft hopefuls rose to the occasion with the postseason just around the corner. Dominant outings from frontline arms like Liam Doyle, Evan Siary, and Joseph Dzierwa set the tone on the mound, while bats like Drew Faurot, Lucas Moore, and Sam Busch provided the fireworks in statement wins.
From complete-game gems to clutch home runs, players across the board are finding their stride at the right time, just as the regular season enters its final stretch and resumes are built for June.
Below are the stars of Friday's slate of games!
Atlantic Coast Conference
Covered by Brian Switzer II “Switz”
Jay Woolfolk, RHP, Virginia - 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K, Win (101 Pitches)
All good things must come to an end, and for Miami, their 10-game ACC win streak came to a halt on Friday night. Virginia took Game 1 of the critical weekend series, handing the Hurricanes their first conference loss in nearly a month thanks to a dominant outing from their Friday night workhorse, Jay Woolfolk.
Woolfolk, in what was likely his final home start in a Cavalier uniform, delivered when his team needed him most. The right-hander fired six innings of one-run ball (an unearned run at that), while holding a scorching Miami lineup to just three hits and striking out seven. It was a vintage performance from the senior and exactly what Virginia needed in a must-win situation.
With the Cavaliers sitting squarely on the bubble and currently outside the projected field of 64, this weekend series is do-or-die. And Woolfolk made sure his team started it off with a punch. Beyond the box score, this outing was crucial for Virginia’s RPI and tournament hopes, and Woolfolk’s stock as a potential MLB Draft pick in July, as he should get his name called during the later phases of the draft.
Harrison Didawick, OF, Virginia - 4 AB, 1 R, 1 H, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 0 BB, 2 K
Talk about a vintage performance! Harrison Didawick looked every bit like his 2024 self on Friday night, coming up big in Virginia’s series-opening win over Miami. The outfielder went 2-for-4 with three RBI, including a towering two-run homer in his final at-bat to put the game out of reach and pad an already lopsided final score.
It’s been a frustrating spring for Didawick, who entered the year with expectations but has largely struggled to find consistency. At this point, returning to school and recouping some draft value might be the smartest path forward after hitting 24 bombs in 2024 and smashed for a 1.056 OPS in 2024 and this spring only finding enough mustard for 4 long balls and a .658 OPS.
Still, Friday’s performance was a reminder of the kind of impact bat Didawick can have when he's locked in. And if he can stack a few more games like this down the stretch, he might give scouts something to think about.
In a rare out-of-conference weekend matchup in May, Notre Dame made quick work of MAC’s finest of Bowling Green on Friday evening, claiming a dominant 10–0 run-rule victory in seven innings. The Irish have now won 11 of their last 13 games and are peaking at the right time.
Right-hander Jack Radel was in full control, cruising through five shutout innings to pick up his sixth win of the spring. Radel has been on a tear over his last 37.1 innings, allowing just six earned runs while striking out 33 and walking only seven. His continued dominance solidifies his status as one of the premier college arms in the ACC, and a name to watch in the 2026 MLB Draft class.
Notre Dame’s pitching and offense are clicking, and Friday’s rout was just the latest example of a team quietly building postseason momentum. The Irish are a sneaky dark horse for the ACC Tournament that could spoil some fun for other in-conference teams looking to capture a regional berth with a ACC Tournament Championship.
