Jarren Advincula, 2B, California – 6 AB, 3 R, 3 H, 5 RBI, 3B, 2 HR, 1 K
Jarren Advincula enjoyed a career day as Cal evened the series at #18 Louisville on Saturday afternoon. The lead-off man had the first multi-homer day of his collegiate career and added a triple and five RBIs to lead his team past the Cardinals. He extended his hitting streak to 12 games and his on-base streak to 21. Advincula started his day with a swinging strikeout to lead off the game for the Bears, then delivered big-time home runs in his next two plate appearances. In the top of the 2nd and leading 2-1, Advincula launched a two-run blast to right field to make it 4-1. He went backside for his second home run, sending a ball to left for a three run shot that pulled Cal back within a run of Louisville at 8-7. The sophomore second baseman added a triple to left center in the 6th as Cal came back to beat Louisville, 14-10. Advincula is now hitting .374 on the year with 16 extra base hits and a 1.039 OPS in 26 games.
Max Handron, 3B, California – 4 AB, 4 R, 4 H, 3 RBI, 2B, HR, HBP
Alongside Advincula, senior Max Handron had a monster day in Cal’s 14-10 win over Louisville yesterday. He scored a career-high four runs and amassed a career-high four hits in a perfect day at the plate. He was an everyday starter at third base in 2024 but has been relegated to more of a bench piece in 2025 as yesterday’s game was only his 12th start of the year. He entered the game with just three extra base hits in 46 at bats, but is now slashing .280/.400/.460 on the season. He singled to left in the 2nd inning to start his day and came in to score on Advincula’s first home run. In Handron’s second plate appearance, he singled up the middle and came around to score on Advincula’s second bomb. After being hit by a pitch in the 6th, Handron got in on the extra base hit party with a two-run double to center field that tied the game at 10-10. He’d add a solo shot in the 9th and finish a triple shy of the cycle.
