Saturday’s slate across college baseball featured a flurry of standout performances as the regular season winds down and conference title races heat up, with players continuing to make noise on the national stage. Whether it was Anthony Eyanson’s complete-game masterpiece, Mason Neville’s two-homer outburst, or mid-major arms like Jonathan Gonzalez and Ethan Norby dominating the zone, the stars showed up when it mattered most. While storms disrupted schedules in parts of the country, those who took the field made the most of their opportunities, delivering impact performances that elevated both team momentum and individual draft stock.
Below are the top performers that made the most noise on a buzzy Saturday slate in college baseball!
At this point, are we really surprised to see Carson Tinney back on the daily sheet? The Notre Dame slugger has been one of the hottest hitters in the country over the past few weeks, and he kept it rolling on Saturday with a solo home run down the left field line, his only hit of the day, but another big swing that padded the Irish lead in their win over Louisville.
Notre Dame has now won 10 of its last 12 games, including three straight ACC series victories, and Tinney has been right in the middle of it all. Over that stretch, he’s gone 24-for-45 (.533) with 10 home runs and a staggering 60 total bases, averaging five per game. His season OPS now sits comfortably above 1.300, a testament to just how loud the bat has been.
Tinney isn’t just riding a hot streak, and he should walk away this spring with some ACC hardware for his efforts.
Daniel Cuvet, 3B, Miami - 3 AB, 2 R, 3 H, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 0 K
Others might not see it this way, but this weekend’s loss was nothing short of a colossal disaster for NC State. The Wolfpack had a golden opportunity to tighten the race at the top of the ACC standings, but instead, they let it slip away; turning what could’ve been a two- or three-team sprint into what now looks like a four- or five-team photo finish. Saturday’s 10–3 beatdown at the hands of Miami only widened the gap, as the Hurricanes dominated from start to finish.
Leading the charge once again was the big bat at the hot corner, Daniel Cuvet. The Miami third baseman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI, continuing to deliver in clutch moments as the Hurricanes surge late in the season. Cuvet has been white-hot as of late, in his last five games, he’s 10-for-17 (.588) with seven runs scored, five doubles, three home runs, and 13 RBI, all while striking out just once in 17 plate appearances. Do not be surprised if the Hurricanes find a way to host a regional next month if they keep riding this hot streak, they are on in ACC play.
In this one, Daniel Cuvet didn’t have to carry the load alone. Batting right behind him, Gonzalez delivered a breakout performance of his own, collecting three hits and driving in four runs to help push the Hurricanes deeper into the ACC title conversation. Gonzalez got the scoring started early with a pair of RBI singles before roping a two-run double in the fourth to break the game open. While his numbers this year haven’t quite matched his breakout season a year ago, Gonzalez reminded everyone why he’s still a trusted bat in the middle of Miami’s lineup. On a day when the Canes offense was rolling, the “old reliable” came through exactly when they needed him.
AJ Ciscar returns to the daily sheet this week after a tone-setting performance against NC State on Saturday afternoon. The Miami native was locked in, cruising through 6.2 innings of one-run ball (an unearned run), while allowing just five hits and striking out six. He was in full control from start to finish, setting the tone in a key ACC matchup.
Earlier in the season, the Hurricanes were forced to adjust after losing starter Nick Robert to a season-ending injury. One of the first moves head coach J.D. Arteaga and his staff made was inserting Ciscar into the rotation; a decision that has since transformed the freshman into one of the ACC’s rising stars. On Saturday, he once again delivered, keeping a potent Wolfpack lineup in check and walking off to a standing ovation from the Mark Light crowd.
Ciscar’s emergence has been a game-changer for Miami, and with each start, he continues to look like a foundational piece for years to come.
