Sunday’s college baseball slate wrapped up the weekend with a flurry of standout performances from both established stars and rising names. In Fayetteville, the Aloy brothers, Kozeal, and Davalan powered a dominant doubleheader sweep with a barrage of extra-base hits and run production that had scouts taking notes. On the mound, Karson Ligon delivered his best outing of the year, tossing six shutout innings with eight strikeouts, while mid-major arms like Jack Hibbard and Declan Lavelle added statement performances of their own. Meanwhile, Justin Tims and Regan Hall turned in lockdown starts in the Midwest, and big bats like Drew Burress, Bryce Molinaro, and Austin Smith continued their offensive tear.
With draft stocks rising and contenders gaining momentum, Sunday once again proved there’s no off-day for impact in college baseball.

The hulking slugger for the Cavaliers has had a rough go of it to start this season, but he was truly looking like his former self on Sunday’s bout with NC State. Launching two homers on the day and bringing home four on the day, Ford will look to build on this performance and turn his year around in the second half. He’s a draft eligible sophomore so he’s got some leverage on his side, but he’ll need to show more at the plate if he wants to get paid the way many thought he would in the preseason. Ford is a bit of a tweener defensively and might be more of a first baseman as a professional, putting even more pressure on the righty to produce at the plate. If he can get things straightened out, he’ll add a dynamic run producer to a UVA team that could certainly use a pick me up.
Davis has had a wonderful freshman season for Louisville so far with Sunday’s performance being no different. Rocketing two homers on the day and driving in four, Davis has been a crucial part of this Louisville lineup and will be for the foreseeable future. It’s a smooth lefty swing that generates backspin well, thus leading to a healthy amount of pop with his massive frame. It’s a first base only profile which hurts his positional value in draft circles and there’s definitely some swing and miss in his game, but his pop at the plate will likely carry him into the professional ranks when his time comes. He’s a fun player.
