In a near-exclusive Big Ten slate on the holiday, Sunday’s college baseball action still packed a punch across the national landscape, as star bats and statement outings delivered in full force. Devin Taylor continued his All-American campaign with a six-times-on-base performance, headlined by a three-run blast to close out a mercy-rule win. Korbyn Dickerson and Alex Calarco each added their own fireworks, combining for five hits, three homers, and seven RBIs. On the mound, Reece Beuter and Ben Cleaver both turned in quality outings to close out weekend series victories, while Miami’s Tanner Smith and Notre Dame’s Zack Tinney led the offensive charge in key conference wins. The Hurricanes finally found some sunshine in what’s been a gloomy spring, as they closed out Easter weekend with a much-needed 10–2 win over Georgia Tech to secure an ACC sweep; something that’s been elusive for them this season. Miami wasted no time getting the bats going, putting up a four-spot in the opening frame thanks to an RBI knock from Daniel Cuvet and a three-run laser from catcher Tanner Smith. Cuvet kept it rolling in the second with another RBI single to extend the lead to 5–0, and the Canes never looked back. After a tough run through conference play, this weekend might be just what they needed to turn things around.
