As the regular season winds to a close, Thursday's slate across college baseball delivered a surge of high-impact performances with major postseason implications. From Jake Knapp's complete-game clinic to Jay Woolfolk’s eight-inning gem, and Will Jones remaining unbeaten on the year, the arms stole the early spotlight.
Offensively, bats like Harrison Didawick, Ryan Kucherak, and Cam Maldonado continued their hot stretches, each powering their teams with timely extra-base hits and multi-RBI games. With tournament seeding on the line and draft boards still evolving, Thursday’s standouts made it clear, there’s still plenty left to prove.
Below are the arms and bats that caught our eye during Thursday's action!

In Blacksburg, the Cavaliers are battling to strengthen their NCAA Tournament resume while also giving themselves a bubble chance for Selection Monday. In doing so, they made a strong statement in Game 1 of the weekend series against Virginia Tech. Virginia was firing on all cylinders Thursday night; combining timely hitting, solid pitching, and late-inning offense to pull away for a convincing win.
Leading the charge offensively was Harrison Didawick, who went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. His sixth-inning RBI single to right field extended UVA’s lead to 2–0 and set the tone for the later innings. After Virginia Tech finally broke through with a pair of runs, the Cavaliers responded in a big way with a five-run top of the eighth. The rally was ignited by Chris Arroyo’s leadoff solo homer (his 10th of the season) and, capped by a two-run single from Eric Becker to stretch the lead to 8–2.
The Cavs weren’t done. In the ninth, Jacob Ference added the exclamation point with a two-run blast to left field as UVA outscored Virginia Tech 9–0 over the final two frames. It was a complete team effort and a crucial win as Virginia continues to claw its way toward a postseason berth.
Jay Woolfolk, RHP, Virginia - 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, 6 K, Win (94 Pitches)
Over the past few outings, Jay Woolfolk has looked every bit like the pitcher Virginia fans have come to know and love, an elite weekend arm and one of the premier right-handers in the ACC. On Thursday night, Woolfolk delivered another masterful performance, continuing his late-season surge by tossing eight strong innings of two-run ball with six strikeouts and just one walk in the series opener against Virginia Tech.
His eight-inning outing tied the longest of his career and marked the longest start by any Cavalier pitcher this season. After being handed an early lead, Woolfolk locked in, retiring the first 10 Hokies he faced before ending the fourth inning with a slick double play on a failed bunt attempt. He then struck out the side in the fifth, preserving a tight one-run lead and showcasing the dominance that’s defined his recent starts.
Woolfolk closed out his evening in style with another inning-ending double play in the eighth and his sixth strikeout of the night. It was a composed, efficient outing that not only gave Virginia a huge boost in its postseason push but also reminded everyone that when Woolfolk is right, he’s as good as any arm in the conference.
Up at Charles L. Cost Field, Clemson entered the weekend looking to lock up a national top-eight seed and bolster their case to host a regional. Facing off against Pittsburgh in their final regular-season ACC series, the Tigers needed a strong start, and Aidan Knaak delivered exactly what the doctor ordered.
Knaak was dominant on Thursday night, throwing 7.1 innings of one-run, no-hit baseball while striking out a career-high-tying 12 batters. Despite issuing four walks, the sophomore right-hander was in control from start to finish, keeping the Panthers off balance and off the scoreboard for most of the game.
Knaak teamed up with Joe Allen and Lucas Mahlstedt to complete a combined no-hitter, guiding the Clemson Tigers to a 6–1 victory in the series opener. Knaak has enjoyed a breakout season this spring and has firmly established himself as one of the top arms to watch in the 2026 MLB Draft class. The Clemson right-hander wrapped up the 2025 regular season with an impressive 8–1 record, a 4.25 ERA, and a dominant 100:28 strikeout-to-walk ratio, good for an 11.5 K/9. His electric stuff and consistent production have put him squarely on the national radar heading into next season.
