Unfortunately, we are starting with the losing side in this one, as Arkansas could not hold off LSU, and now our College World Series matchup is set. Ryder had a breakout sophomore campaign as he was leaned on to be the guy behind the dish, and he not only rewarded the Razorbacks coaching staff and pitchers with solid defense, but he also really hit for them and became a middle-of-the-order threat. His season ends with 14 homers and hitting .306/.423/.608; he will be an interesting follow next season.
Landon Beidelschies, LHP Arkansas
5 IP, 3 H, 2 R (2 ER), BB, 9 K
Unfortunately, Landon Beidelschies' season is also over despite him turning in one of his better performances of the season. His slider is nasty, and he handed out a Chili's triple-dipper of sliders. The former Ohio State arm has had some ups and downs, but when the Razorbacks needed him, he came through. Unfortunately, the bullpen blew this game in what was an instant classic. I bemoaned the "midness" of the College World Series field this year, but I have been thoroughly enjoying every game; I am going to be sad when it goes.
