Trevor Hooth joins today's sheet covering AAA while Smada remains on MLB duty. We have 35 different players covered across the two levels. Use the "On this page" section on the site to scan the players and jump straight to their note.
Double-A, High-A and Low-A all have their opening day on Tuesday, so the full sheet in all its glory will return this Wednesday.
Major League Baseball
Covered by Smada
The Yankees went crazy, Matt Shaw and Kristian Campbell each got their first career homers and a buy-low window has opened for Roki Sasaki.
Aaron Judge, RF NYY (MLB)
4-for-6, 3 HR, 4 R, 8 RBI
It’s the first throng of dongs of the 2025 season and who better to do it than Aaron Judge. He led the 20-spot that the Yankees put on the Brewers. He’s already well on his way to making good on Jordan’s high OOPSY projection for him.
Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B NYY (MLB)
1-for-4, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB, K
Anthony Volpe, SS NYY (MLB)
1-for-4, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB, K
Volpe’s power is starting off hot again with 2 HR in 2 games. However, this one, similar to the first, was a wall scraper. But the park is a perk of being a New York Yankee. Apparently though, having an MIT physicist create a brand new bat shape to aid your swing, is also a perk of being a New York Yankee. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is also using this bat and also hit a homer yesterday, his first of the season. All reports are that this new “Torpedo” bat is legal to use. Who knows how quickly this bat will catch on with other teams as I recall from the Louisville Slugger museum tour, their models are not exclusive to players or teams.
Nestor Cortes, LHP MIL (MLB)
2 IP, 6 H, 8 ER, 2 K, 5 HR allowed
Despite having decent projections and signing with a team known for good pitching development, I was pretty bearish on Cortes this offseason. He had an elbow scare at the end of 2024, he didn’t look right in the playoffs, and the K% had begun to trend down prior to all that. Home runs have always been an issue for Nestor but he’s been able to work around them for the most part. Allowing 5 HR in 2 IP is a whole different level though. His FB velo was down a tick and a half. Aside from a 7 ER, 0.1 IP outing in 2020, this is the worst start of his career. He’s not startable until he shows us something better.
