Major League Baseball
Covered by Matt Thompson
Ben Rice, 1B NYY (MLB)
1-for-4, HR, R, RBI, K
Rice led off the game against Guardians ace Tanner Bibee and deposited one into the right field seats. The Dartmouth product is hitting a robust .286/.390/.614 on the season and all of the sudden first base looks like a deep position now with the emergence of Rice, Tyler Soderstrom, Jonathan Aranda, Pavin Smith, Spencer Torkelson, and Michael Busch. Hopefully you waited on the position and got yourself one of these free picks late. The Nick Kurtz promotion also adds some quality depth to the position. Rank these seven guys for ROS by tweeting @drewisokay with your order.
Aaron Judge, OF NYY (MLB)
4-for-4, 2B, R
Judge is ridiculous, there’s no real analysis needed here.
‼️ Nick Pivetta, RHP SD (MLB)
7 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K
Pivetta carved up the Tigers and outdueled Jack Flaherty for the win. That contract Pivetta signed was certainly something this off-season. I wonder if that was something only available to the Padres considering their ownership situation?
🆕 Agustin Ramirez, C MIA (MLB)
3-for-3, 2 2B, RBI, BB
Ramirez has really hit the ground running and it is nice to see a prospect have some success right away as they establish themselves. Ramirez is already hitting in the cleanup spot for the Marlins and it appears he has a firm grip on the primary catching position going forward. He’s an add in places where he’s still available and I have him as a borderline top 12 catcher the rest of the way for fantasy. He hits the ball hard and while he might hurt your average at times he will add some steals, giving him some value.
James Wood, OF WSH (MLB)
3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 R, K
Dylan Crews, OF WSH (MLB)
1-for-4, HR, RBI, R, K
The future of the Nationals showed up in a big way in their blowout win over the Orioles. Crews started slow but now has a hit in seven straight contests. James Wood has been productive this season and we expect him to keep it up. If you’re reading this you already know he’s good. Don’t need to sell you on Wood.
‼️ Mitchell Parker, LHP WSH (MLB)
8 IP, H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
I’m not big on self promotion but I’m patting myself on the back for my past evaluations of Mitchell Parker, who I’ve had pegged as a future big league starter for a bit now. Parker is on a heater and is taking advantage of some injuries opening spots in the Nationals rotation. He’s pitching like an ace right now and while he won’t keep this pace up he’s not a guy I’m looking to sell high on.
🚑 Cristopher Sanchez, LHP PHI (MLB)
2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Sanchez left the game due to left forearm soreness and he and the Phillies sound a little concerned. There have already been discussions about at the very least skipping his next start and giving him some extra rest, which means an IL stint appears likely. Sanchez looked great this spring and it would be a shame to see him go down. The Phillies do have Andrew Painter building up in the minors right now, and if you can afford to stash him he could grab this spot in a month or so. Joe Ross is likely the next man up.
🍔🍟 Lars Nootbaar, OF STL (MLB)
2-for-5, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K, SB
Credit to the Cardinals for doing the right thing (!) and putting Nootbaar in the leadoff spot. He’s a natural in that spot and if he stays healthy we might finally get that big breakout several big name analysts have been calling for.
Victor Scott II, OF STL (MLB)
3-for-4, 2 2B, 3 R, RBI, BB, K
I was a year early on Victor Scott, although I was on him getting the job early last year before anyone else so that has to be worth something right? Well he’s hitting this year, looking like an above-average bat that can also steal 40 bases and playing a solid center. The future is bright for this kid and he will eventually become the leadoff hitter in St. Louis because they tried to make that stick last year.
Edgar Quero, C CWS (MLB)
3-for-4, R
Another young catcher making the position his own. We talked about Quero in the latest Dynasty pod with myself and Greg Hoogkamp and special guest James Anderson. We all like Quero and the only real questions come on the defensive side of the ball. He should be the catcher the rest of the way and should split time with Kyle Teel when Teel comes up around July.
🍔🍟 Kyle Tucker, OF CHC (MLB)
3-for-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, 2 SB
The Kyle Tucker trade remains confusing for the Astros, although they did get a decent return. I guess I just don’t understand not paying Kyle Tucker. He’s so damn good and is going to cash in this winter. I’m predicting the Cubs step up and pay him because PAIN.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF CHC (MLB)
3-for-5, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, K
PCA is becoming one of my favorite players. He was one of my favorite evals as a prospect when he was with the Mets and he just has so many things going for him. He doesn’t even need to hit to be a net positive for his team, but he’s really been productive this year. Stock is way up.
Chandler Simpson, OF TB (MLB)
2-for-4, K, SB
Another multi hit game for Simpson and he swipes a bag. The fastest man in baseball is worth rostering and even just streaming for a stolen base every now and then. I don’t have much confident he hits enough to play everyday but he still hits enough to carve out a big league career.
🍔🍟 Wyatt Langford, OF TEX (MLB)
3-for-4, HR, R, RBI, BB, K, SB
Another absolute stud. Good to see him back healthy. A nice combo meal for just returning off the injured list with a three hit game is a nice treat for all.
Kyren Paris, 2B LAA (MLB)
0-for-3, 3 K
Hmmmm. Well hopefully you were able to cash in this years Chris Shelton for something nice. Saw some impressive victory laps on Paris this spring and even as recent as last week. Seems as if the league has adjusted back a little bit. He’s 1-for-20 in his last 20 at bats with 13 strikeouts.
Jose Quintana, LHP MIL (MLB)
6 IP, 6 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Quintana now has a sparkling 0.96 ERA to start his Brewers career and now I’m on the IL for rolling my eyes so far back into my head that they are stuck there. This organization deserves all the credit in the world for churning out viable starting pitchers and this time they picked up a used one and made him great. Obviously this won’t continue but a nice little stretch here for Q. I would say sell high but duh? And also it’s really hard to sell high on a starting pitcher. Especially one in his late 30s.
Triple-A
Covered by Nate Rasmussen
Jacob Misiorowski looks like the next Brewers pitcher up, while Jack Leiter vs Gunnar Hoglund got cut short due to rain. Is Deyvison De Los Santos a speed demon?
Deyvison De Los Santos, 1B MIA (Triple-A)
4-for-5, 3B, 2 R, RBI, SB
A triple and a stolen base were not on my Deyvison bingo card tonight. Deyvison has started to attempt more steals this year, which is a fantasy-relevant stat due to his huge power potential. Even 10 steals every year increases his value. With Agustin getting called up and crushing, Deyvison isn’t far away from forming a fun home run duo.
Jeferson Morales, LF MIN (Triple-A)
4-for-4, R, RBI, BB, SB
Jeferson Morales with the Wendy’s statline last night. He ended his 2024 in Triple-A with a strong performance, aided by BABIP luck. In 2025, he’s been extremely unlucky. It's likely that he’ll settle somewhere between the two and be an average Triple-A hitter. He’s not on the 40-man currently, making it unlikely he’ll get the call to roam the outfield this year without surpassing Emmanuel Rodriguez somehow.
Tyler Locklear, 1B SEA (Triple-A)
1-for-4, BB, K
Donovan Solano has been the worst hitter in the MLB this year, making Tyler Locklear a hot topic for Mariners fans. Lockear hits lefties well, which was supposed to be Solano’s role. We’re probably a week or two away from Tyler rejoining the Mariners in a platoon role unless something changes fast.
Marcelo Mayer, SS BOS (Triple-A)
2-for-4, HR, 2B, R, 2 RBI, K
Just watch the video, man. That’s pretty stuff.
Marcelo Mayer blasts his 5th home run, showcasing his "smooth, aesthetically beautiful swing [that] can drive the ball to all fields" (courtesy of @HoothTrevor's scouting report).
Nick Loftin got BABIP’d to death last year with the Royals, but his lack of power in recent years has been concerning. It looks like Loftin has his power swing back, while showcasing his plus eye. Loftin has a ridiculous 27.3% walk rate this year while pacing for a career high in stolen bases. If the Royals get an opening in their infield, look for Loftin to make a really strong run at a bounce-back season in the big leagues.
Dylan Beavers, LF BAL (Triple-A)
2-for-4, 2B, R
Dylan Beavers is just a solid, well-rounded prospect. He likely can find a role as a fourth or fifth outfielder in Baltimore, yet he will struggle for consistent playing time with Heston Kjerstad around. He could be a trade casualty for a competitive Baltimore roster. Maybe the Rays will somehow end up with him and he’ll put up 5 WAR.
Michael McGreevy, RHP STL (Triple-A)
6 IP, 6 H, ER, 5 K
Michael McGreevy is a crafty righty. You’ve heard of the crafty lefty before, but I am now terming the phrase crafty righty. The fact that Miles Mikolas is employed while McGreevy is in Triple-A is a crime. I’m sorry, Matt Thompson, you deserve better.
Jimmy Crooks, C STL (Triple-A)
1-for-3, HR, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K
At least you have Jimmy Crooks, Matt!
Daz Cameron, CF MIL (Triple-A)
3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Daz Cameron has crushed ever since joining Milwaukee, to the tune of a home run every 5 at-bats. That’s gotta be something, right? Probably not, but the journeyman outfielder has landed in player acquisition heaven with the Brewers. Everything they’ve touched lately has turned into gold; why not Cameron, too?
‼️Jacob Misiorowski, RHP MIL (Triple-A)
6 IP, H, BB, 8 K
This is the classic Misiorowski outing that makes me believe in him. His walk rates this year are in line with every other year, yet he’ll go do this and make me think he could really be an effective starter. I would love to see the Brewers bring him to their bullpen, forming what could be one of the best in the league despite Trevor Megill being the closer. They have 5 guys that could be first or second options on most MLB teams.
Ian Seymour, LHP TB (Triple-A)
5.1 IP, 4 H, ER, 3 BB, 9 K, HR
Ian Seymour has been hanging around the minors for a while now. Most interestingly, he’s outperformed his FIP at his last 9 stops across three years, which is pretty cool. Seymour has 80-grade I hate runs, putting up well above LOB% figures every single year. You can’t really teach that. Seymour will likely be ready for a callup this year, but I’m not sure if the Rays have a use for him right now.
Dalton Rushing, C LAD (Triple-A)
1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB
Dalton Rushing with an extremely smooth bat flip. Not too in your face, but gets the job done.
It doesn't take very long for the Comets to get settled at Salt Lake's new ballpark, as Dalton Rushing hits a three-run homer! pic.twitter.com/yS94NUeG8j
Bernabel has struggled the last two years, but got the promotion to Triple-A this year and has been making the most of it so far. He’s got plenty of pop, but his quality of contact is consistently poor despite good walk and K ratios. He’s seen some success this year by pulling 70% of baseballs, which could be his key to success in Coors.
Double-A
Covered by Adam Kiel
Kade Morris, RHP ATH (Double-A)
6.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 7 K, 2 HBP
Both runs scored after he hit the batter and the batter stole second. The first was “unearned” thanks to a catcher’s throwing error but I think that's a generous interpretation of unearned runs. No one asked me but you’re what I call a captive audience. Anywho, Kade was a 3rd round pick in 2023 out of Nevada by the Mets. He was then traded for Paul Blackburn just one year later. So far this year, Kade has looked like a good strike thrower who uses a wide arsenal filled with roughly average pitches. He has a ceiling of a backend starter with plus command, but that is paired with a high floor. If we see a jump in stuff he could be a fun arm, but until then just a watch list kind of prospect.
Aidan Miller, SS PHI (Double-A)
3-for-6, 3 R, RBI, 2 K
It’s been a relatively slow start for Miller. Thankfully, his last two games he’s putting the ball in play. We can hold off any panic button pressing for now.
