This was yesterday's sheet. We'll be off today to celebrate the 4th but back tomorrow!
Major League Baseball
Covered by Matt Thompson
Max Muncy, 3B SAC (MLB)
1-for-3, HR, R, RBI, BB, K
Back to back sheet appearances for the Young Muncy. One weird thing about this game is players that have terrible approaches are always the streakiest, and we might be seeing a hot one for Max. That third base job is ripe for the taking.
Ryan Pepiot, RHP TB (MLB)
6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K
Prior to this start eight of his last ten outings had resulted in a quality start. He’s been one of the more dependable starters in the game and he bounced back nicely after a clunker the last time out in Baltimore. He walked more guys than normal but made up for it with the nine strikeouts. Prior to this start he was the 36th best SP according to the Razzball player rater in 12 team, 5x5 leagues.
‼️ Mitch Keller, RHP PIT (MLB)
7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, BB, 7 K
Keller twirls a gem, catching the Cardinals offense at the right time. Three straight shutouts for the Pirates staff against the Cardinals this week, and yeah it wasn’t great. Keller seems like an obvious trade candidate once again, is this the year he finally gets moved? Yeah I’d bet it is.
‼️ Janson Junk, RHP MIA (MLB)
6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
Including this start, Junk has only walked two hitters in just over 37 innings this season for the Marlins. He’s still not a must start guy though, as the arsenal isn’t flashy and he is prone to hard contact. He’s a home streamer. He gets the Reds in Great American Small Park next time out so make sure he’s on your bench.
Ben Rice, C NYY (MLB)
2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, RBI, BB
Happy Ben Rice gets catcher eligibility day for everyone that celebrates! As you are reading this he is catcher eligible in NFBC leagues. Rice has been awesome and I love that the Yankees think out of the box and are hitting him leadoff. (Why does the NFBC have these eligibility rules for everyone except Ohtani, who was pitcher eligible out of the gate despite playing all of last season as the DH?)
Aaron Judge, OF NYY (MLB)
3-for-4, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB
At what point in dynasty do we start worrying about his age? There’s nothing else to say here. He’s a beast.
Addison Barger, OF TOR (MLB)
2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, BB, K
Barger has been a god send for the Jays this year. I personally was a year too early on Barger but I’m glad to see the breakout is happening.
💣💣 Davis Schneider, OF TOR (MLB)
2-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Schneider with the double dong as he gets a spot start. His second and third dongs of the season. Hard to get much in fantasy value when you barely play, but Schneider is interesting depth if a spot opens up. The power is very real, and the hit tool is playable.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand, 1B CIN (MLB)
2-for-5, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI
CES took slider monster Greg Weissert deep in the seventh inning for the go ahead grand slam. CES has shown flashes but hasn’t hit or stayed healthy enough to sieze that everyday job but he’s been playing some third base to stay in the lineup. Will he show enough to get the Reds to commit to him as a first baseman?
Jurickson Profar, OF ATL (MLB)
2-for-4, HR, 2 R, K
Profar homers on his first game back from his suspension. I don’t understand why he was able to rehab in minor league games while out on a PED suspension, but yeah, he was.
💣💣 Riley Greene, OF DET (MLB)
2-for-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 2 K
One of the starting outfielders for the American League All-star squad, a much deserved honor. We are seeing what Greene can do when he’s healthy and I actually still think there’s another gear here offensively that we haven’t seen yet.
Zach McKinstry, 3B DET (MLB)
4-for-5, 2B, 2 R
So hand up! I may or may not have said some not so nice things about the legitimacy of the Tigers in April and specifically how I couldn’t take them seriously with McKinstry hitting in the middle of the lineup. Well he’s a much different hitter now and very much profiles as an everyday guy. One of the years biggest breakouts.
‼️ Cristopher Sanchez, LHP PHI (MLB)
7 IP, 5 H, ER, 0 BB, 5 K
An extra day of rest seems to have done Sanchez good! Not that he needed it. He’s been one of the best starters this season upping the whiff rates while maintaining an elite ground ball rate.
Isaac Collins, OF MIL (MLB)
4-for-4, HR, 2B, RBI, BB
I’m tired of the Brewers man. Collins was a minor league rule five pick from the Rockies organization in 2022 and now he’s their starting left fielder. Sure he’s running a .342 BABIP that is sure to come down, but he’s a great glove and is showing improved power as well. Not a crazy ceiling here or anything but he should be rostered in all 12 team re-draft.
Jacob Misiorowski, RHP MIL (MLB)
3 ⅔ IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
So you’re telling me he isn’t the best pitcher in the world after all? Well he’s certainly human but an outing like this is inportsnt for a young arm. It’s important to see how he fares in his next start.
‼️ Nathan Eovaldi, RHP TEX (MLB)
5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, BB, 5 K
A nice welcome back for Nasty Nate. He was pulled after just 72 pitches since he didn’t go on a rehab assignment but this is about as good as you could hope for for someone making their return. An intriguing potential trade piece as the deadline approaches. Eovaldi to the Cubs for Owen Cassie? I think that works pretty well.
🆕 Yanquiel Fernandez, OF COL (MLB)
0-for-3, K
The major league debut for Fernandez! He is not a guy I’m all that interested at the moment because the approach scares the hell out of me. There’s the potential for massive homers here though if someone hangs a pitch over the plate. The power is real!
‼️ Hunter Brown, RHP HOU (MLB)
6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 8 K
Brown has been incredible and this outing was actually in Coors Field of all places. Brown should be one of the top five starters off the board next year in fantasy drafts. He’s been that good!
Clayton Kershaw, LHP LAD (MLB)
6 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, BB, 3 K
Congrats to Clayton for that 3,000th career strikeout. An incredible achievement for the 3 time Cy Young Award winner and it might be the last 3,000th strikeout club member we see in a long long long time.
Triple-A
Covered by Mitch Stachnik
Kevin Alcántara, RF CHC (Triple-A)
2-for-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K
The toolsy outfielder hasn’t quite been able to put it all together to earn more than 10 at-bats at the major league level. Similar to teammate Owen Caissie, Alcántara could be used as a trade chip to strengthen the big league rotation and give the Cubs a better chance come October.
💣💣 Braxton Fulford, C COL (Triple-A)
4-for-4, 2 HR, 5 R, 5 RBI, BB
Fulford made his big league debut earlier this season and looks like he could make a return soon. A double dong outing yesterday and a .340 batting average in Triple-A make his case even more compelling. However, the team has struggled at nearly every other position, while catcher has been a rare bright spot thanks to the success of Hunter Goodman, making it harder to find room for Fulford.
Spencer Jones, CF NYY (Triple-A)
2-for-3 HR, 2R, RBI, 2 BB, K
Jones has excelled since his promotion to Triple-A, hitting three home runs in four games. His homer last night traveled 412 feet with a 108.1 mph exit velocity. Jones has a similar 6-foot-7 build to Yankees star Aaron Judge, and soon the two will be patrolling the same outfield.
Francisco Alvarez, C NYM (Triple-A)
Game 1: 3-for-4, HR, R, RBI
Alvarez was built up as one of the best catching prospects in recent years but a slow start both on offense and defense this season caused his demotion to Triple-A. A home run will hopefully build some confidence for him to get back into a groove as a valuable power hitter at the backstop.
‼️Robert Stock, SP BOS (Triple-A)
5.2 IP, 5H, R, BB, 6K
Stock has had quite the journey in baseball starting his professional career as a catcher before converting to the mound. The 35 year old is still showing he has gas in the tank with a 6 strikeout performance.
🍔🍟 Aaron Schunk, 3B COL (Triple-A)
3-for-5, HR, 3BB, 3 R, 3 RBI, K, SB
A combo meal for Schunk earns him a spot on the Daily Sheet. The former second round pick was a two-way player in college with a plus power tool, but he hasn’t shown enough with the bat to climb higher in prospect rankings. He made his big league debut last year, and the Rockies need all the help they can get and hope Schunk continues to develop into a contributor who can give the team a jolt.
‼️Vince Velasquez, SP CLE (Triple-A)
5.2 IP, 3H, 0R, 2BB, 8K
Velasquez made easy work of the Mud Hens lineup, punching out eight. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2023, but the 33-year-old could be a logical option if an injury were to occur. He primarily relies on a fastball-slider combo, but also mixes in a sinker and changeup.
🍔🍟 Nick Schnell, LF WSH (Triple-A)
2-for-5, HR, R, 2 RBI, K, SB
Schnell was drafted as a power-speed player and showcased those tools last night with a combo meal. However, he still needs to improve his hit tool if he wants to be considered for a call-up. The 32nd overall pick by the Rays in 2018, Schnell hasn’t quite lived up to the initial hype.
🍔🍟 Ronny Simon, DH PIT (Triple-A)
2-for-4, HR, R, RBI, BB, SB
Simon had a rough start to his major league career, getting cut after a three-error game. But he isn’t backing down, showing he may be worthy of another chance. The Pirates' lineup has plenty of holes, and Simon may be someone they turn to if the team’s hitting woes continue.
Jakob Marsee, LF MIA (Triple-A)
2-for-4, HR, 2B, R, RBI, K
The Central Michigan product has continued to show signs of providing value to the Marlins’ big league club. Marsee has the speed-power combination that baseball fans love. His 11 home runs and 39 stolen bases so far this season are sure to raise some eyebrows.
💣💣 Alex Jackson, C NYY (Triple-A)
2-for-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 5 RBI, K
A double-dong performance earns Jackson a nod on today’s Daily Sheet. The sixth overall pick in the 2014 draft was selected for his power, and 11 years later, he’s still showcasing that skill.
Brice Matthews, 2B HOU (Triple-A)
0-for-5, 5 K
A platinum sombrero for Matthews highlights the swing-and-miss concerns in his game. While the rough night shouldn't worry fans too much, it does suggest he may not be ready to make the jump to the big leagues just yet.
Double-A
Covered by Tom Gates
🍔🍟 Ethan Murray, 3B MLW (Double-A)
1-for-3, HR, 3 R, RBI, 2 BB, K, SB
The swiss-army knife of the Brewers system. Murray has played second base, left field, third base, and some short stop this year. He does a little bit of everything at the plate too. He has a 12% walk rate, seven home runs and seven stolen bases.
Esmerlyn Valdez, RF PIT (Double-A)
2-for-4, 2B, R, RBI
Why do you subscribe to ProspectsLive? I’d like to think it isn’t because of our gas station food takes. I hope it’s because we can point out some players that might help your dynasty team improve. Example: Esmerly Valdez. Smada wrote Valdez up on his Deep Sea Diving article on May 12th when Valdez was 1% owned on Fantrax. Valdez is now 9% owned and in Double-A. He looks like something the Pirates desperately need on their Major League team in the next couple of years. It might be at first base or DH if he’s up soon. Bryan Reynolds is holding down right field while he’s still on the Pirates since he’s signed until 2030. Oh, by the way, did you hear we are closer to 2050 than the year 2000?
Angel Genao, SS CLE (Double-A)
2-for-4, 2B, R, RBI, BB, K
He’s the type of player you’d love to have on your bench in a dynasty league. Someone safe that you can plug in at multiple positions, who will just help you keep your average and runs up. If he ends up starting for you, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you’ll just have to have some big power-speed guys on your team.
Joe Lampe, RF CLE (Double-A)
3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 R, RBI
So, I actually don’t love Lampe. He’s got good speed but lacking elsewhere. That said, I love the movie.
💣💣Chris Meyers, DH DET (Double-A)
2-for-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, K
If Meyers can keep this up, he should earn a promotion soon. He’s already 26 and has been in Double-A since 2023. There is some power here but I’d lean Meyers is more of a Quad-A player.
Charles McAdoo, 3B TOR (Double-A)
2-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI, K, CS
I questioned the trade last year when the Pirates sent McAdoo for IKF, but maybe it wasn’t a bad sell-high. McAdoo has really struggled since the trade. He’s batting .208, with seven home runs and a 30% strikeout rate. Watching McAdoo, I love the potential. He’s a strong dude that can stroke the ball all over the field with some power. He’s athletic and can run.
Denzer Guzman, 3B LAA (Double-A)
2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K
Guzman earned a promotion last year after only 84 plate appearances at High-A. It’s the Angles. They like to promote their guys. Guzman is 21-years-old and if the hit-tool can take a step forward he becomes intriguing. His batted ball profile says the power should continue.
Sal Stewart, 3B CIN (Double-A)
1-for-4, HR, R, RBI
Lookout! Stewart is batting .321 on the year with 10 home runs and 13 stolen bases. Stewart seems like one of those guys you just put in your line up every day. He might not have a monster game or week but will consistently deliver.
💣💣 Zach Cole, CF HOU (Double-A)
2-for-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 6 RBI, K
A Riley Greene-esk night for Cole. He’s up to 10 home runs on the year but the contact struggles are still there. Cole has always had a below average hit-tool and it doesn’t seem to have improved this year.
Lazaro Montes, RF SEA (Double-A)
3-for-4, 3B, 2 R, RBI
The right-fielder got a workout chasing Montes’ balls in this game as all three went his way. He’s tearing up Double-A through eight games.
🚑 Michael Arroyo, DH SEA (Double-A)
1-for-1, R
Arroyo slid into home safely on Montes first inning single and appeared to grab his hamstring. He then was taken out of the game.
👟 Cameron Cauley, SS TEX (Double-A)
3-for-5, 2 2B, R, 3 RBI, 2 SB
He’s 48-for-54 in stolen bases the past two years. He has about average power as well, but the hit-tool is lagging. He has a 30% whiff rate. There’s big time potential here with some contact improvement.
‼️Trey Gibson, RHP BAL (Double-A)
7 IP, H, 6 K
I love the breaking ball Gibson throws. It isn’t fast which allows it to really drop. He’s been a big mover in the ranks.
Nick Morabito, CF NYM (Double-A)
Game 1: 2-for-3, HR, R, 3 RBI Game 2: 0-for-3
What a rare occurrence. Morabito hits a home run and also gets caught stealing. I like the floor of Morabito. He’ll give you a good average and tons of steals. I’ve come around on Morabito since the off-season but I still don’t see him being an everyday Major Leaguer, especially for a team like the Mets who are willing to spend and have shown good development lately.
Carson Benge, LF NYM (Double-A)
Game 1: 1-for-2, R, BB Game 2: 1-for-4, HR, R, RBI
Here is a Mets outfielder I like more. Benge has a similar profile in a sense it’s hit over power and there is speed. His speed doesn’t compete with Morabito but I think Benge will have more power.
🔜 Sean Manaea, LHP NYM (Double-A)
3 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K
Manaea is a serviceable pitcher for most fantasy leagues. We’ve probably missed the boat on picking him back up off the waiver wire. He’s 81% owned. He’s eligible to return July 8th.
Roc Riggio, 2B NYY (Double-A)
Game 1: 1-for-3, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB Game 2: 2-for-2, 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB
I think we could have an interesting debate in the rankings with a group of second baseman. Roc, Sal Stewart, Aaron Escobar and Michael Arroyo are all players that can contribute in multiple ways for your fantasy team. I think Riggio has really closed the gap on the others. He appeared on our list for the first time at #321 in June and has done nothing but continue to hit. Since June 1st, he’s hitting .269 with eight home runs and six doubles.
Rafael Flores, C-DH (Double-A)
Game 1: 1-for-3, R, RBI Game 2: 2-for-4, HR, R, 3 RBI, K
He hits and he hits the ball hard. I can’t tell you where his future defensive home will be but I can see his bat playing in the Majors.
‼️Brody Hopkins, RHP TB (Double-A)
7 IP, 5 H, ER, 9 K
Maybe this is what the Rays do. Trade for the arm that has two plus pitches and try to develop a third, a la Joe Boyle. Both throw hard and their best secondary is a hard slider. Hopkins' change up needs work. If he can add a third pitch, his value will soar.
