Trade deadline stove is lit. Here's the game action from Monday, minus Double-A, had some scheduling issues.
Major League Baseball
Covered by Smada
💣💣 Kyle Manzardo, 1B CLE (MLB)
3-for-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K
Manzardo has gotten HOT over his last 11 games with 5 HR and a 244 wRC+. He’s still been reduced to a platoon bat but maybe he’s rekindled some trade value for your dynasty squad.
🍔🍟 Anthony Volpe, SS NYY (MLB)
2-for-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB
Some breaking news here, Anthony Volpe is not Derek Jeter. With 1715 PA over an 87 wRC+ it’s probably time to let go of the dream that Volpe carried as a high-end prospect. But, there’s still a 2-3 WAR player in here and a bad BA/OBP 20/20 fantasy option.
Jonathan Aranda, DH TB (MLB)
2-for-5, HR, 2 R, RBI, 2 K
Aranda has been one of the sustainable breakouts this season. This was his 12th HR of the season and he’s still slashing .315/.396/.480 over 402 PA. Yandy’s probably on the way out of town which will open up a spot for the Rays to start testing out their next 1B/DH body in the minors. Which could also open up full time PA against LHP for Aranda.
Jonny DeLuca, CF TB (MLB)
1-for-3, 3B, 2 RBI
Some may have missed it, but DeLuca is finally back from the IL. He’s only started 2 of the 5 games, both against LHP. The emergence of Jake Mangum and Chandler Simpson muddy the PT waters.
Nick Lodolo, LHP CIN (MLB)
5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, BB, 11 K
Lodolo has been cooking over his last 7 starts with a 29% K and 3.6% BB and a 1.88 ERA. Above all it’s just great to see a full healthy season from him thus far. His last start eclipsed 2024’s starts and he’s already 12 IP over last year’s career high at 128 IP.
Noelvi Marte, 3B CIN (MLB)
1-for-3, HR, R, RBI
Marte has been solid since coming up in early July and he’s already up to 7 HR and 6 SB over 146 PA across his opportunities this season. Of course the Reds just traded for Ke’Bryan Hayes but Marte has begun to see time in RF, a position he never played in the minor leagues. Marte still has some great tools and is just 23 years old. It’s a nice player to buy for relatively cheap for those rebuilding/retooling in BA leagues.
💣💣 Brooks Lee, SS MIN (MLB)
3-for-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 5 RBI
Entering in the 1st inning for Correa, Brooks Lee made the most out of what was supposed to be a day off with his first career Double Dong. So far in his career the data models have been more correct than the scouts as he’s shown minimal power and poor on base skills over his first 511 PA in the bigs. On the positive side is great in-zone contact. If he can develop the patience there’s still a path to a better than league average hitter.
Andrew Vaughn, 1B MIL (MLB)
3-for-4, HR, 2 R, 6 RBI, K
We’ve got the new poster-boy for “change of scenery.” Vaughn has now played in 15 games with the Brewers and has 5 HR with a 12% BB & 12% K over the small sample. This is the highest 15 game sample of wRC+ in his entire big league career.
💣💣 Kyle Higashioka, C TEX (MLB)
3-for-4, 2 HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, K
20% of his career HR have come on Double Dong (or more) days.
Willy Adames, SS SF (MLB)
1-for-3, HR, R, RBI, BB
Since June 10th: 177 PA, 11 HR, .311/.395/.596. He was too good to be that bad all season.
