    Daily Sheet 8/6/25:

    Triple-A

    Covered by Mitch Stachnik

    Samuel Basallo, C BAL (Triple-A)

    1-for-3, HR, 1R, 3RBI, BB, K

It's time for both of the Orioles’ top prospects, Basallo and Beavers, to get their feet wet in the big leagues and better prepare for next season. Last night, Basallo hit a home run, his third straight game with a long ball. The two could easily take over the lineup spots vacated by Ramón Laureano and Ryan O'Hearn following their trade to the Padres.

    🔜‼️Aaron Nola, SP PHI (Triple-A)

    3.2IP, 4H, 1R, 2BB, 3K

The Phillies are looking to bolster what is already one of the best rotations in baseball, with Aaron Nola working his way back from an injury suffered on May 16. He started the season on a rocky note, possibly due to the injury, but over his 10-year career, he has been consistently valuable. His return should give the Fightin' Phils a boost as they gear up for a deep run in October.

    Hao-Yu Lee, 2B DET (Triple-A)

    2-for-4, 3B, 2B, 3R, 3RBI, BB

In the first game of a doubleheader, Lee showed why he's considered a fringe top 100 prospect and may be knocking on the door of the big league club. I was surprised the Tigers didn’t move him to bolster their bullpen or include him in a deal for Eugenio Suárez ahead of the postseason, but it seems the team has big plans for him and wasn’t willing to part with that potential.

💣💣 Trey Sweeney, SS DET (Triple-A)

    3-for-3, HR, 2R, 3RBI, BB

In the second game of the doubleheader, Sweeney showed out in his hometown of Louisville with a two homer performance. He was recently sent down due to struggles at the plate, hitting just .208 with the big league club, but in 36 plate appearances at Triple-A, he's shown major improvement with a .389 batting average.

    Tommy Troy, 2B ARI (Triple-A)

    2-for-5, HR, 1R, 3RBI, K

Troy hit his first Triple-A home run after being called up on August 2. It was his 13th of the season and raised his OPS to .865. There appears to be a logjam in the infield with Marte, Perdomo, and Lawlar occupying key spots. However, Troy has started five games in center field this season, which could be his quickest path to playing time.

    Brice Matthews, 2B HOU (Triple-A)

    2-for-4, HR, 1R, 1RBI, BB, K

A 453-foot moonshot from Matthews earns him a spot. He got a taste of the show earlier this year, showing off his power tool, but struggled at the plate, hitting just .143 over 35 plate appearances. The trade for Correa sent him back to Triple-A, but he still has the speed and power combo you love to see. More consistency at the plate would do wonders.

    Jacob Melton, CF HOU (Triple-A)

    1-for-5, HR, 1R, 1RBI, 4K

The top Astros prospects went back-to-back with solo home runs. Although Melton’s wasn’t quite as far, he still made great contact, hitting the ball at a 104.8 mph exit velocity. Melton also got a taste of the show earlier this season but was sent down after the team acquired Jesús Sánchez.

    Harry Ford, C SEA (Triple-A)

    1-for-4, HR, 1R, 1RBI

Ford went oppo taco to earn a shoutout on today’s sheet. He’s been clobbering Triple-A pitching and could make an impact for the big-league club. I think he and Raleigh would make a great pairing behind the dish, and to get Ford more at-bats, moving him around the diamond would be beneficial, as he has the athleticism to handle it.

💣💣 Joey Wiemer, RF MIA (Triple-A)

    3-for-3, 2 HR, 3R, 5RBI, BB

Recently DFA’d by the Royals, Wiemer was claimed off waivers by the Marlins. A double dong outing earned him a nod on today’s daily sheet. Although he hasn’t quite put it all together yet, Wiemer has always had the tools to be very intriguing.

    Nick Martini, LF ATH (Triple-A)

    2-for-3, HR, 2B, 2R, 2RBI

Martini was DFA’d by the Rockies earlier this season before signing a minor league contract with the Athletics. The elder statesman Martini is showing he’s still got it. At 35 years old, he may be a bit less spry than others on the list but still deserves a shoutout.

    Double-A

    Covered by Tom Gates

    Kevin McGonigle, SS DET (Double-A)

    3-for-4, 3B, 2 R

He just hits frozen ropes all over the field. McGonigle just missed a home run to right center but instead had to settle for a triple. It’s been too easy for the 20-year old at Double-A so far. He is slugging over .500 and his walk to strikeout ratio is almost equal.
