Another day, another long ball for Kemp Alderman, this one leaving the bat at 106.8 mph. He has been on an absolute tear since his promotion to Triple-A. Just last week he crushed a 471-foot homer that showcased his plus power. Alderman also brings a strong arm that profiles well in right field. He did everything he could to help the Jumbo Shrimp secure a win and stay alive in the playoffs.
Right after Alderman’s home run came Etzel’s turn at the plate, and he delivered going back to back. A combo meal along with two extra-base hits earned him a spot on today’s sheet. He did everything he could to keep the Jumbo Shrimp alive and force a Game 3. Etzel has put together a solid season overall, tallying 7 home runs and 27 stolen bases.
Luke Mann helped the Las Vegas Aviators capture the PCL championship last night. They now await the winner of the RailRiders and Jumbo Shrimp series to determine their opponent for the Triple-A title. Mann provided the highlight of the night with a three-run home run that left the bat at 108 mph and traveled 429 feet.
Ryan Lasko, a second-round pick in the 2023 draft, played a key role in helping the Aviators win the PCL and advance to the Triple-A finals. Last night he showcased his power by launching a home run 438 feet with a 100.9 mph exit velocity. Lasko is already regarded as a plus defender in center field and owns a strong arm that also profiles well in right. If he can continue to develop his power, he will strengthen his chances of making a major league impact in the near future.
Jorbit Vivas did his best to spark the RailRiders in their chase for an International League title, but his efforts came up short, setting up a decisive Game 3 today. His sixth-inning home run provided some late life, but it was ultimately too little, too late. Vivas has struggled during his time in the majors this season, hitting just .161 over 58 plate appearances, but he has been much more productive in Triple-A, where he is batting .270.
The Cardinals have catchers coming out of every pocket. That makes the competition steep for Bernal, but St. Louis has shown that if you bring a reliable bat, they’ll find room for you. At Double-A this season, the 21-year-old showed a well-rounded approach—striking out just 17% of the time while hitting 13 homers and swiping 13 bases.
