Welcome back to Diamond Diplomas, a weekly rundown of all the players knocking on the door to the major leagues. Whether you compete in the deepest of dynasty leagues, or simply want to win the office redraft title, Prospects Live has you covered. For an overview of the tier system used to rate players in this series, take a look at last week’s article here:
As lengthy as the baseball season seems, a lot can happen in a week. Take a look at the weekly “Report Card” for the last 7 days (all statistics updated as of the conclusion of play on May 11):
Weekly Report Card
Called Up
Jordan Lawlar , SS (ARI): Lawlar received a promotion to the Diamondbacks early Monday morning, his first since 2023. He remains in the conversation among the top hitting prospects in baseball, and should be an automatic add in all fantasy formats, but particularly in leagues with daily lineup adjustments.
Tim Elko, 1B (CWS): Elko announced his arrival in a big way during his second game with the White Sox, smashing a three-run homer off of Sandy Alcantara to give his team the lead on Sunday. It was his only hit over the weekend, but it will be interesting to see if this sparks a strong first full week for him in the majors.
Jonatan Clase, OF (TOR): Clase spent the tail end of last week with the Blue Jays, but made little noise with just two hits. Consider adding him if you need MLB-level depth in a dynasty setting.
Cade Horton, P (CHC): The former Oklahoma Sooner finally made it to the big leagues after a roller-coaster couple of seasons in the Cubs system. Horton’s 6.75 ERA sells the start short, as his stuff looked MLB-ready and allowed no walks. This was a solid debut to build on for the 2022 first-rounder.
