August 15 passed, and with it the incentive for teams to hold off on calling up their marquee prospects to preserve rookie eligibility going into 2026. As such, some big names headline the latest weekly Report Card (all statistics courtesy of Baseball Reference, Baseball Savant, TJStats, Fangraphs and Milb.com, updated as of the conclusion of play on August 17):

Called Up:

  • Samuel Basallo, C/1B (BAL): Though he just turned 21 years old on August 13, Basallo’s call-up felt long overdue. The Orioles’ top prospect almost kicked his pro career off with a home run, but had to settle for a two-run single as his first MLB hit. This will be the first of many, and Basallo should be scooped up in all fantasy formats as the season winds down.
  • Owen Caissie, OF (CHC): In most weeks, Caissie’s call-up would have been the most notable. The Canadian got his first taste of major league action when the Cubs visited his home nation to play the Blue Jays, which lent an extra sentimental touch to the occasion. The slugging outfielder has yet to collect his first hit in the majors, though, and it looks like he will be used primarily as a bench bat for the time being. As such, redraft managers can probably wait to see if he plays his way into a bigger role before looking to snag him off waivers.
