Called Up:

  • Bryce Eldridge, 1B (SF): The future of the Giants at first base has arrived. Eldridge brings immense game power to the position, and his call-up is a statement of intent from San Francisco that they mean to make a real push for a playoff spot. Consider him an interesting speculative add in redraft, given his home run potential, but expect a lower floor in batting average and on-base percentage.
  • Moises Ballesteros, C (CHC): The second-greatest Moises in Cubs history had an excellent first series back with the big league club. Ballesteros hit .500 from Friday to Sunday, including crushing his first home run as a major leaguer. The Cubs have already rewarded him by letting him hit cleanup, and he could provide some sneaky fantasy value in the final weeks of the season across all formats if he keeps this performance up.
  • Owen Caissie, OF (CHC): In his first game back with the Cubs on Saturday, Caissie collided with the outfield wall while making a catch and suffered a concussion that landed him on the 7-day injured list. He is still on the major league roster, but will not be a fantasy contributor for the next few days, at least.
  • Christian Moore, 2B (LAA): After being optioned and spending two weeks down in Triple-A recalibrating at the plate, Moore returned to the Angels in style this weekend, smashing a home run on Sunday in his second game back. That was his only hit all weekend, though, and his one-for-seven performance bodes ill for his fantasy owners down the stretch. Redraft managers should leave him on the waiver wire until he produces more consistently.
  • Trey Yesavage, P (TOR): Arguably the top pitching prospect yet to debut in the majors, Yesavage will be rectifying that on Monday by making his first big league start against the Rays. He has struggled with command at times, but strikes out batters with unbelievable frequency, and reportedly has no innings restriction from the organization. The righty will be an intriguing streaming option in redraft formats for the final weeks of the season, but may struggle to go deep in games.
