Back-to-back World Series titles, 3 championships in 6 seasons, 5 NL pennants since 2013, and 13 straight playoff appearances (12 of them division titles) equals a dynasty. The Dodgers are the model franchise across all aspects of the game, and they push the envelope more than any other team. It's true, no one can spend like the Dodgers, but they are win-hungry, and more teams would do well to act as they do.
As well as the Dodgers do with their development, this 2028 Lineup exercise will not truly reflect what they will do over the next two-plus years. When the Dodgers have a hole in their lineup, they generally go outside the organization to fill it - at least in recent years. As an example, just one of the 6 starting pitchers listed in this article are homegrown talent, and it's number 6.
One thing that is evident from going through this exercise is that the Dodgers are not immune to the aging curve. Their current lineup, as we head into 2026, is still one of the best in MLB but also one of the oldest, and it's probably closer to needing an infusion of youth than we might think. Two things can be true here: The Dodgers can fill their holes with young, impactful players, and they can (and most likely will) fill them with big leaguers through free agency or trade to keep this freight train flying down the track.

Over the past five seasons, Shohei Ohtani has hit 233 home runs, stolen 136 bases, posted a .285 batting average, and paired it with a 2.84 ERA, a 31.6% strikeout rate, and an 8% walk rate on the mound. No one is close to dominating the game like him.
