The Twins were very active this season after coming to terms with the fact that this might not be their year. They traded Carlos Correa to the Astros, while Jhoan Duran was dealt to the Phillies for catching prospect Eduardo Tait and pitcher Mick Abel. The bullpen overhaul continued with Louis Varland going to Toronto for Alan Roden, Griffin Jax being traded for Taj Bradley, Brock Stewart for James Outman, and Harrison Bader for Hendry Mendez.
This wasn’t a full-scale rebuild, though. Many of the players acquired are near major-league ready, and the Carlos Correa trade alone freed up $70 million in payroll. Twins fans will be eager to see ownership put that money to work to get the team back atop the division soon. If Minnesota can fill in the remaining gaps over the next couple of years while continuing to develop talent from within, they should be well-positioned for success by 2028.
