Four straight seasons making the playoffs has to be satisfying for Phillies fans, but true satisfaction won't take place until the Phillies climb the mountain to the summit and collect a World Series title. Philadelphia sports fans – yes, the same fans that booed Santa Claus – are difficult to please, so a 96-win season, while nice, won't win them over if the end result is a 3-1 series-loss to the Dodgers. This Phillies' core is strong, and with Kyle Schwarber re-signing, they will try to extend this run a little longer.
This roster blends strong hitting and pitching, led by a group of veterans who have had tremendous success in other markets before joining this Phillies' squad. Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber are as formidable a trio as you can find in baseball, while Zack Wheeler, Cristopher Sanchez, Jesus Luzardo, and Aaron Nola are a top four that few can match. By the time 2028 rolls around, Wheeler and Luzardo's contracts will have expired, but Andrew Painter waits in the wings to stake his claim at the top of this rotation.
The Phils also have some talented prospects coming to infuse some youth into this roster, so the window is wide open to contend. Can they pull the right levers to get through the mighty Dodgers in the NL? We will have to wait and see, but they certainly have as good a shot as any to do it.
