Sorry for leaving ya hanging last weekend, but moving houses in 90+ degree heat left me more than a little physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted.
While I've spent my time here at Prospects Live focusing on major league trends and breakouts, I previously made most of my modest X following by living in the prospect world, ranking, and shooting off my absurd opinions.
Instead of my usually in-depth, 3-player breakdowns, today I want to get you a bullet-point head start on players who can help you win a championship in 2025 - whether it's redraft or a contending dynasty team.
Some of these guys are "obvious," but I want to break down the shifts in values that accompany even the biggest prospect names.
For example, Kristian Campbell may still be considered an elite prospect, but his MLB exposure has removed at least some market value from some GMs in some leagues. I promise.
And as always, filter any advice through your league-specific situation. A 30-team dynasty versus a 10-team redraft is an incredibly wide gulf; I'll try to provide enough thoughts to help with everything in between.
Samuel Basallo, C/1B/DH BAL (Triple-A)
Despite doing things like this...
Samuel Basallo: the real #1 prospect?
...there isn't the same hype for Basallo that guys like Kristian Campbell, Roman Anthony, or Jac Caglianone received leading up to their call-ups earlier this season.
As a reminder: barring injury, Slammy B (as he almost certainly does not like to be called) WILL debut at some point in 2025.
While the Orioles don't appear to have much of a chance to compete this season, throwing Basallo into the mix would help their cause - and if things keep going poorly in Baltimore, they might as well let the kid take his licks in the bigs. Even if he catches just once every fifth day to keep Adley Rutschman fresh, that'll be enough to make him a top-5 dynasty option at C moving forward (while mostly playing 1B/DH).
