The Dynasty Baseball Championship (TDBC)

2023 Constitution

30 Team $50 Competition

Summary

  • Do you have what it takes to identify the best talent over the next 5 years and win a dynasty league without trading or in-season pickups?

  • This is a low touch point dynasty league with a fixed 5 year time frame and up front payment. The league eliminates trading & yearly turnover and focuses on the initial draft and yearly offseason free agent slow drafts. Each league has 30 teams and the winners are determined by the highest Best Ball points totals. There are both yearly and end of 5 year time period prizes as well as a cross-league competition prize.

Leagues

  • The league will run for 5 seasons (years 2023 through 2027)

  • Each league will consist of 30 teams

  • Each roster will consist of 50 players (1500 total players rostered)

  • No trading allowed

  • Pickups only allowed during the offseason via free agent slow draft

  • Leagues are hosted on Fantrax

  • These will be public facing leagues. Draft results and standings will be viewable outside of league participants.

Roster

  • Roster: 50 players

  • Scoring: 10 UTL slots (no offensive positions) & 9 P slots

  • 31 bench spots w/ any mix of hitters or pitchers

  • Must roster at least 10 hitters and 9 pitchers

  • Ohtani Rule: 2 way players will have only one eligibility, either hitter or pitcher, so please be mindful of this while drafting.

    • You can change the eligibility between hitter and pitcher prior to the start of any season by notifying the commissioner, but it cannot be changed mid-season.

Scoring

  • Best Ball points scoring

    • Points are accumulated by Fantrax automatically selecting your 10 highest scoring hitters and 9 highest scoring pitchers each week

  • Yearly point totals and cumulative 5 year point totals determine winners

  • This league uses the Fantrax default best ball scoring system (see tables below)

Year 1 Slow Draft

  • Hosted on Fantrax

  • Drafts begin at pre-specified dates set in the Fantrax League

  • Randomly generated draft order

  • 50 round snake draft (1,500 total picks)

  • 2 hour draft clock with overnight sleep between 12am and 9am EST

    • Courtesy in the slow draft is expected in two directions. Please be on top of your picks and please give grace to those that run the clock down from time to time. We are not looking to run the draft forever, but we also understand people have commitments outside the draft. We will have people participating from different time zones across multiple continents. All that said, utilize the queue whenever you can.

  • Open player universe. Meaning college, high school and international players may be selected at any point.

    • If a player you wish to select is not in the Fantrax player pool, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to request them to be added to the player pool.

      • To Request, in Fantrax go to OTHER -> ALL OPTIONS -> REQUEST NEW PLAYERS

    • If a player does not get added to the player pool by the time you’d like to draft them, you may draft a retired MLB player as a placeholder. After doing this you must immediately note which player the placeholder is for in the Fantrax chat, the Discord league chat and most importantly, in a message to a commissioner.

  • Be mindful of each selection. There are players with identical names on different teams (i.e. there is a Wander Franco on the Giants). If a player selected accidentally, please contact a commissioner immediately and we will reverse the pick. If picks were made after the accidental selection, those players will not be eligible to be taken as the replacement pick. This will ultimately be up to the commissioner discretion and pick reversals may not happen after 5 more players are selected as your intended selection could have changed the direction of future draft picks for other owners.

    • Qualifies: clicked on the wrong player, selected the wrong player with the same name, or put yourself on autodraft and “draft from the queue” wasn’t selected.

    • Doesn’t qualify: you change your mind about your pick, your time ran out and you got autodrafted, or you were previously autodrafted and it autodrafts for you immediately in the next round.

Transactions

  • Trading is not allowed at any point.

  • There are no in-season claims allowed in this league. You will finish the season with the same roster you drafted.

  • The only transactions made after the draft will be in each offseason with a free agent slow draft detailed in the next section.

Yearly Free Agent Slow Draft

  • Hosted on Fantrax

  • The draft will be scheduled for mid-February each season.

  • Order based on reverse standings from the previous year and will not snake (1st overall pick has the 1st pick of each round)

  • The slow draft consists of 10 rounds

  • 2 hour clock with overnight sleep between 12am and 9am EST

  • All players in the free agent pool are eligible to be drafted.

  • Open player universe. Meaning college, high school and international players may be selected at any point. See “Year 1 Slow Draft” section for more details.

  • Roster expands by 10 players each year (yearly roster drops have been removed).

Owner Replacement

  • The hope is that this format removes the typical reasons for teams dropping out during the 5 year period. However, things happen and we’re not discounting the possibility that people may not return each year.

  • If you know that you do not wish to continue on with the minimal team construction process during the offseason, please let us know ASAP. If you have a replacement manager in mind, we will set them up. If not, we will find a replacement owner for your team.

  • An owner may be replaced if they do not participate in the off-season free agent draft in order to keep.

  • If an owner is replaced, they no longer receive any winnings that the team may have during the rest of the 5 year period and these winnings will go to the replacement owner.

What Constitutes a “Season”

  • A season, in any year during the competition, is valid if at least 600 games are played.

  • Regardless of whether or not 600 games are played, all points accumulated during the year will still count towards the 5-year total.

  • Prize adjustments:

    • If a year does not produce a valid season (<600 games), the yearly league prizes will be evenly distributed among the remaining seasons with the money ratio between 1st and 2nd place remaining intact.

    • In the event the final year (2027) does not produce a valid season, the yearly league prizes will be pushed to the overall 5-year prize with the money ratio between 1st and 2nd place remaining intact.
