In case you have been living under a rock for the last thirty-odd years, Frank Costanza’s ramblings are not just the zany clamoring of an angry octogenarian but also serve as the inspiration behind the exercise of the day – “a Festivus for the rest of us!”

Normally celebrated on December 23 and popularized by the show Seinfeld, Festivus is a secular holiday meant to serve as an alternative to the stress and commercialization of the Christmas season. As an amateur scouting team, we will be forgoing both an aluminum pole and “Feats of Strength” (for now) and will primarily focus on another of Frank Costanza’s most genius machinations of the holiday, the “Airing of Grievances.” Per Festivus.com, this is “an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year.” For our own purposes, however, we will be focusing instead on the differences we have between our Team Top 100 NCAA List and the personal lists we carry ourselves.

Think a guy is ranked too highly? Grieve away. Feel like we missed the boat on a player? Let us have it!

Though we are celebrating this holiday a full eight days late (complainers therein can voice their opinions during our Airing of Grievances or in the comments section), I believe the spirit of Festivus has inspired a new tradition for our amateur team lists.

Without further ado, we will proceed to our Airing of Grievances, or “Team Gripes,” as they will hopefully become more widely known.
