Top Pitching Performances

Scott Blewett, RHP - KC (Surprise)

4 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 Ks

The 6’6” righty had a fine showing last night, commanding his 91-93 mph fastball, 78 mph curve, and low-to-mid 80s change to both sides of the plate. Blewett was aggressive inside to lefties with his fastball, and once he got ahead, he used his changeup away to get them to roll over ground balls. The curveball away to righties was also a weapon.

Jesus Castillo, RHP - LAA (Mesa)

3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 Ks

Nolan Long, RHP - LAD (Glendale)

2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 Ks

Ryan Castellani, RHP - COL (Salt River)

3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BBs, 2 Ks

Thomas Burrows, LHP - ATL (Peoria)

2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 Ks

Bonus: Play of the Day

Pittsburgh SS Cole Tucker went 1-5 with a stolen base and a run scored last night, but where he really shined was in the field, moving very well at 6’3” to make difficult plays look routine. In the 8th inning, when Andy Young dove to snag a hard ground ball up the middle and tossed it to Tucker at 2nd, Tucker caught the ball at a standstill, spun, and launched a throw to 1st for the web gem double play. Even though he was falling away towards left field, he still showed off terrific arm strength. Here was a routine play from earlier in the game:
