Hello friends, welcome to a tradition like no other, “The Stash List.” I am back this year to help you find some diamonds in the rough, no matter your league size. Minor league ball has just started to kick off for the leagues outside of Triple-A, but we have some actionable info.  

As a reminder, the players are in no particular order and are broken up into different-sized league tiers. There are often repeats on the list: don’t blame me; blame the players.  

As always, I’ll answer questions below about anyone I missed, the weather, lost loves, and so on.

Onto the hitters.

12-team and shallower – Nick Kurtz, Kyle Teel, Jace Jung, Adael Amador, Marcelo Mayer, Chandler Simpson, Jordan Lawlar

The cream rises to the top – in life, milk, I guess??, and fantasy baseball. Kurtz has quickly ascended from a second-round FYPD pick in earlier drafts to being right up there with Travis Bazzana. All he has done at every level he’s been at is make opposing pitchers look like they should be playing in rec-ball. There’s a bit of a logjam on the Athletics for guys who can’t play defense, but Nick Kurtz’s bat will find a way to make it to Oakland, Sacramento, before too long. Why must the A’s be more interesting than my Pirates? To a lesser degree, Kyle Teel follows in Kurtz’s footsteps, handling everything the minors can throw at him. It’s a race between Teel and Edgar Quero, who will make it up first, but Teel is a better receiver, so my guess is him.

Everyone loves Chandler Simpson, and why wouldn’t you? He could theoretically carry the stolen base stat for you. But it’s the Rays; who knows what kind of tomfoolery they will play with Simpson. In Jace Jung and Adael Amador, you have a duo who have already played in the majors to varying levels of success. It surprised many people that Tim Tawa was called up for the ailing Ketel Marte and not Jordan Lawlar. Tawa was off to a hot start in Triple-A, which could be nothing more than that. Lawlar should be up at some point this season.
