It was a rough season for the Braves, and even though the Braves made the playoffs in 2024, when you account for injuries and struggling stars, it's been more like two rough seasons. In each of the last four seasons, the Braves have been among the top two or three favorites to win the World Series, but they just haven't been able to get over the hump since their 2021 title.
The Braves have been lauded for their smart management, locking up nearly all of their young position player talent, including the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, Matt Olson, Michael Harris II, and Sean Murphy. It's a great strategy and has paid off for the most part as the Braves have had one of the best records in baseball over the last five seasons. Drake Baldwin has also stepped in to be an impact bat.
A lost season of Braves' ace Spencer Strider doesn't help a team looking to contend for a championship, but another Spencer...Schwellenbach has really stepped up to be a top-of-the-rotation option. Because the Braves have so many positions filled long-term, they have been able to focus on drafting and developing pitching, and there are several exciting young arms, including AJ Smith-Shawver, Cam Caminiti, and Owen Murphy, who will all be ready to contribute in the 2028 season.
