Hello and welcome to this week's rendition of the DSL Weekly Rundown. The Major League Baseball Draft is upon us, depending on when you read this. I got summoned into last-minute draft duties, so that is why this is coming out a bit later in the week than normal, but I hope I am able to make up for that.

Right now, we are going to do a deeper dive into the DSL and zoom out on what has been the month in the Dominican Summer League. With stateside baseball taking a step back for the draft and All-Star festivities, there seems like no better time than now to look at what has been going on in the lowest level of affiliated baseball and highlight some really interesting prospects for your deeper dynasty leagues, your favorite team, or prospects to target their cards.

Marconi German, SS Washington Nationals

I am more of a Farfalle France guy myself, but what can you say? The hottest Marconi to hit the scene since Mac and Cheese, Marconi is putting up some pretty nutty numbers. He has six homers, has stolen seventeen bags, and is walking a ridiculous 21% of the time. He's a projectable fraud shortstop with pretty interesting power and speed to boot. Remind you of anyone in this organization...Angel Feliz.

The Nationals have always been ones to dip their toes into the international free agent crop, and Marconi looks to be the next interesting one. Marconi wasn't even the highest profile of the Nats' 2025 crop...remind you of another prospect last year? Marconi's swing is geared towards taking batted balls to the pull side and in the air. German was billed as a future high-contact guy, and he has carried over those plate skills, while lifting and pulling batted balls.

I will be interested to see the underlying data when the season is done, because this is very reminiscent of what Jesus Made did last year: good plate skills, optimal contact, and he even is showing off some serious athleticism. In your deepest of leagues, now might be the time to pounce before a few other prospect writers get to him.

Yorger Bautista, RF Seattle Mariners

After German, one of the other impressive young hitters is Yorger Bautista. He does have some aggressive swings on tape, and this results in some swings and misses, but when he makes contact, there is a tendency for it to be loud contact. He has six homers at the time of writing this, and a lot of them are like this...

Yorger is selling out for power, and so far it is playing well. There is some aggressiveness on pitches in the zone, but when a pitcher leaves one over the heart of the plate, Batista has the requisite bat-to-ball skills to take it out of the park. He has posted a 29% swinging-strike rate, which shows you just how aggressive he is at the plate right now. The good thing is he looks good in center field, and if he is just a three true-outcomes type in center field, there is plenty of value there.
