Alex Kirilloff - RF Minnesota Twins

Alex Kirilloff

Age: 20 (11/9/97)

Bats/Throws: L/L

Height/Weight: 6'2" 195 lbs.

Pos: RF

Team/Level/League: Fort Myers Miracle/High A/Florida State League

Body/Athleticism:

Athletic build, sturdy frame. Strong wrists. Can add strength, 10-15 pounds, without sacrificing athleticism.

Hit tool:

50/70 - Swing has some natural loft. Front shoulder stays closed with hands inside the ball. Lets ball get deep before committing. Hangs in versus LHP. Sprays line drives all over the field. Is most effective when going to CF-LCF. Mature approach, elite pitch recognition for age. Rarely fooled on breaking pitches, especially middle of the plate- away from him where he gets optimal extension and finds the barrel. Has shown trouble with premium velocity and hard breaking balls under his hands.

Game Power:

45/60 - Line drive hitter in BP that works the gaps. Doesn't sell out in either BP or game action. Flashes potential plus power to all fields. As body continues to mature and strength is added, could lead to increased HR power in game action. Currently, doubles power against advanced pitching with ability to barrel line drives with carry. Could add to HR totals with more consistent pull approach as he learns to handle pitches on the inner half.

Raw Power:

50/60 - Takes quality hacks in BP, using the whole field with a line drive approach. Line drives have good carry. Doesn’t over swing in BP or try to add loft to swing. May be the type of hitter with higher game power than raw power in BP due to approach.

Speed:

30/30 - Clocked home to first 4.4- 4.5. Smart baserunner. Athletic runner. Despite the clock times, moves well. Doesn't clog the bases. Could potentially lose a grade depending on how the body grows. Speed grade based on home-to-first time but potentially plays up to average speed in-game.

Defense:

50/60 - Quick first step. Good reads off the bat. Athleticism plays up at a corner OF spot. Gets to balls quickly in the corners. Defense should improve with reps and better overall positioning at the higher levels where analytics are more widely used.

Arm:

65/65 - Accurate throws with good positioning. Throws have carry and zip. Arm is a weapon that will negate aggressive baserunning.

Overall:

70 - One of the best young hitters in the minors. Ability to hit LHP at high clip ensures he will become an everyday regular. Bat profiles as a middle of the order bat that contends for batting titles. Elite approach with plus bat speed should lead to 25-30 HR power. Perennial All-Star that could compete for Gold Glove due to arm. In order to reach peak, will need to continue to add strength and experience. High floor hitter with moderate risk
