Dylan Beavers: 20/20 upside?
When the dust settles on the 2025 season, Dylan Beavers may go down as one of the most underrated prospects that was on our collective radar.
He had his moments for sure - halfway through 2024, I aggressively ranked him as a top-25 prospect - but by season's end, it seems like most of us just didn't know what to make of his profile in a seemingly-clogged Orioles' prospect pipeline.
How jammy do you like your jam? Baltimore likes its jam, which is very loggy and very thick, as exhibited by its never-ending flow of prospect batters and consistency with getting the most they can from the major leaguers, which are still under team control, too. Beavers is one such ‘beneficiary’ of this log jam, as with many other teams, he may well have debuted already – consider the 23-year-old’s 2024 campaign; while the strikeouts and his tinkering at the plate can ding his rate stats, there’s potential for a major league 15+-15+ outfielder somewhere in the dam for Beavers. Will this be with the Orioles? Who knows? However, at outfield prospect 29, the chance to discover what Beavers becomes is worth taking.

Cedric Mullins, Colton Cowser, and Anthony Santander ended '24 as the starting outfielders, and with Heston Kjerstad next in line with the franchise's competitive arrow pointing straight up.
It's not like PLive were the only ones who fell out of love with DB either. I am not afraid to radically alter my ranks if I feel it's necessary, and Beavers went from my 24th-best prospect all the way down to 99th after his approach seemed to fall apart. He ebbed and flowed between patient and passive, seemingly leaning more towards the passive side.
Fast-forward to today, and suddenly Dylan Beavers looks like he just might be the safest bet in the entire organization to hold down a major league gig in the outfield.
His 6'5 frame may never lead to 25-30 homer pop in the bigs, but if he can keep getting on base and stealing like he does, even 15 yearly bombs will be a nice treat.
The upside here is probably a leadoff bat who could end up giving us 20/20 seasons, but perhaps more consistently delivers something like 15/30 - and maybe that's even more fun?
Leave it to Beaver is actually a great show
Dylan Beavers has gone from an Orioles afterthought to a beacon of hope in a lost season for them, and I hope you have more shares than I do after I dismissed his "weird" profile at the end of 2024!
As for redraft, he's somehow only owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues...don't let this burgeoning fantasy asset slip away, especially in OBP formats.
