Data has been updated through games on 4/28. New this week I've broken out the change column into two. One for weekly change "W +/-" and one for monthly change "M +/-". Now we'll be able to see movement across different time periods. We'll likely add a year-to-date change column as we reach month two.
Last time we looked the 18 year old hitters and here we'll focus on pitchers. But given there is only one pitcher aged 18 in professional baseball, we'll expand that to the 19 year-olds as well. In addition, we'll look at some rankings movers and check back in on highlighted pitchers in the first top 10 PLIVE- pitcher article.
As always, PLIVE+ data and all our other tools can be found here:
One of my favorite parts about PLIVE- is finding pitchers I've never looked into before and finding some potential deep league value. Erick Leal is a 30 year old prospect who signed with the Yankees out of the Mexican League last September where he had a 2.91 ERA over 15 starts with 95 K in 80.1 IP. Through his 5 starts this season he's got 31 K in 24.1 IP, but also has a 4.81 ERA. PLIVE- likes him because of the proximity and near 5 IP/G. Looking at his pitches at TJ Stats his arsenal doesn't grade out all that well outside of a 93 mph sinker. It's unlikely that Leal is the next man up for the Yanks, but if they begin to get in trouble with their SP depth he could certainly get a look.
Gage Jump, LHP SAC (High-A)
The largest PLIVE- mover over the last week? Gage Jump. The UCLA then LSU product was taken 73rd overall in the 2024 draft and got sent to High-A for his first taste of pro ball. It's worth noting he had prep pedigree as well. In his last start, Jump turned in a line of 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB and 13 K. The TV gun had him in the upper-90s with the fastball... it's time to (nope going to do it) leap to the waiver wire in leagues with 200+ prospects owned.
The story of tonight was Gage Jump, who diced up the TinCaps to the tune of 13 K in 6 2/3 innings.
