Physical Description: Compact, athletic build. Speedy, spark plug type.
Hit: Switch hitter, sets up with a wide base, slight crouch with hands up behind the ear. Shows good bat to ball skills and above average strike zone awareness. Can take a walk and get on base at a fairly high clip. Contact oriented approach may get exposed at higher levels where pinpoint command is more rampant. Grade: 50
Power: Very limited power displayed thus far. Strong and athletic but has lacked ability to drive the ball. Twins maybe able to unlock more power with a swing adjustment and added torque. Might grade out a 20 in the end, but we will stay on the bright side here. Grade: 30
Field: Shows great range, reads and routes in the OF. Has playmaking ability in centerfield. Will be able to stay in CF long term and play above average defense. Grade: 55
Arm: Displays average arm strength. Can make strong accurate throws but can be tested by runners, especially from deep in the gaps. Grade: 50
Run: Maciel is very fast. Running ability allows him to play well in CF. Has been improving baserunning and stealing ability over the last couple of seasons. Could amount to a 30+ steal candidate with regular playing time. Grade: 70
Overall: An average hit tool coupled will well below average power really limit Maciel's upside. However, a player with great speed who can play good defense at a premium position are useful assets to most teams.
