Acquired: 2012 IFA
RuleV: Eligible

Physical Description: Medium frame; average build with above-average athleticism. Average strength in legs and upper body. Talented despite having a rather low baseball IQ. Physically maxed out.

Hit: Open stance; high hands; slightly crouched; wide base. Fringe-average bat speed; noticeable hand hitch; linear bat path. Aggressive approach; free swinger. Noisy swing; lots of unnecessary movement prior to load. Toe tap timing mechanism. Pitch recognition and discipline are major issues. He strikes out a ton and seems allergic to walks. Struggles with velocity up and in and can be exposed by average or better off-speed and breaking balls, especially on the outer third. Made some progress with these deficiencies in 2019, showing promise of a potential fringe-average bat. Realistically the bat probably plays below-average at the big league level. Grade: 40

Power: Solid average raw power in BP, plays significantly down in game due to approach and hit tool deficiencies. Aggressive line drive approach with fringe-average bat speed. Modest over-the-fence in-game pop, most power a result of his above-average speed. Grade: 30

Field: Plus defender. Solid reads off the bat. Route running occasionally becomes adventurous. Athleticism and above-average speed usually mitigates his mistakes. Covers plenty of ground - several highlight reel catches over the years. Great at tracking balls to both sides and coming in on the ball. Occasionally get tested on balls hit over his head. Willing to sacrifice his body for diving catches and impact with the outfield wall. Impact attribute of the profile. Grade: 60

Arm: Plus arm with impressive strength and optimal carry; profiles best in RF; can easily handle CF. Solid accuracy; errors more so an impact of poor judgment than offline or errant throws. Whips some impressive ropes back into the infield gunning down aggressive runners. Grade: 60

Run: Above-average speed down the line. Slow out of the box; quick second gear. Not much of a threat stealing bases; will go first-to-third when opportunity permits though. Aggressive and prone to youthful mistakes - runs into outs. Utilizes speed extremely well on defense. Grade: 55

Overall: You hang your hat on the plus defensive profile and above-average speed. Modest big league future ultimately hinges on the success of the bat. Just minimal gains in the hit tool and there's a solid glove-first bench or short side platoon player. More realistic future is a solid high minors depth piece, capable of occasionally filling in at the big league level.
