Physical Description: Strong, but short and slender, Thomas has a compact frame. Not much physical projection remaining here, but he's very strong considering his stature. Was a three-sport athlete with a football scholarship to TCU before signing with the Diamondbacks for overslot. His dad is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the White Sox.

Hit: Stands tall in the box with a slightly open stance. Active hands, waving the bat like a wand and will rest it on his shoulder before the pitch. Big leg kick as the trigger and has above-average bat speed. Will hit the ball on the ground a bit too frequently, but will use all fields. Holds his own against same-side pitching, but has feasted on right-handers thus far. Strong contact skills, with the time he spent in High-A as the notable exception. Will take his walks, profiles nicely as a future top of the lineup option. When he's going right he's hitting hard line drives everywhere. It's a plus hit tool. Grade: 60

Power: Thomas has put on some power displays during batting practice, and has above-average raw power. He's still learning to fully utilize it in games. It's a bit of a level swing, and he will pound the ball into the ground, limiting his power potential. Level swing makes him a good fit for the Dbacks as they will face many high spin arms in their division. A true line-to-line extra base threat, probably consistently sits around 16-20 homers annually, but while hitting doubles and triples at a high rate. Grade: 45

Field: The Diamondbacks prioritize versatility, so Thomas did spend a fair amount of time on one of the outfield corners. Don't be fooled by that though as he's an above-average defender in centerfield with a quick first step and can make the difficult look routine, especially when he's going back on the ball. Grade: 55

Arm: A below average arm, Thomas may be a better fit for left because of the arm. Grade: 40

Run: Thomas is a plus runner, routinely getting times around 4.20 from home to first. There's enough baserunning skills to swipe 12-15 bags a year and leg out plenty of infield hits. He's right on the line between plus speed and above-average speed, worth watching to see if he bulked up some more and slowed down at all. Grade: 60

Overall: Thomas is one of the most well-rounded prospects in baseball with a plus hit tool, plus wheels and above-average power and defensive skills. He's consistently been one of the youngest players in the league despite being one of the top performers. Thomas should hit for a strong average while contributing on both sides of the ball.
