Physical Description: Developing frame, transitioning from wiry-strong to well muscled. Average height, strong, quick wrists, explosive hand strength. Quick hips and legs, strong across shoulders/ back with ability to reach power alleys. Heads up fielder, plays happen in front of him shows consistent fundamentals. Big hands, springy type of athlete. Bloodlines include father who played pro baseball.
Hit: Inward knee bend in stance, hands held back and high, hips open, front elbow tight. Quiet lower body includes exaggerated hip turn, power channel from a strong base. Upper body starts late, finishes direct, more forward follow through than upward. Creates backspin with hand/wrist strength. Ability to let pitches reach mid-chest before initiating motion. Sees pitches, long ABs, short slumps. Finish can get front-foot heavy during follow through. Loose overall swing process. Grade: 45
Power: High bat speed. Short, direct path to pitch. Developing long doubles power in game. Displayed HR power in practice. Frame/swing shows potential for growth here more than anywhere else. Doubles power at his lightest pro weight. 15 HR power and 25-35 doubles reasonable to expect at full development. Looseness/whip-like swing could mean more. Grade: 40
Field: Bouncy, light feet with excellent springs. Tight, precision transfers. Hands show lots of control matched with clean up-down motion on grounders. Foot placement, positioning, speed especially show consistently. Fields ball in front of body. Saw at both 2B and SS. Slick at fielding attempted steal attempts. Overall little wasted motion, high efficiency infielder. Grade: 50
Arm: Short, overhand throwing motion fundamentally sound release. Strength more than adequate. Throws hit targets often. Shows touch. Grade: 55
Run: Quick, short strider who reaches a high top speed. Base-to-base can take advantage of a good lead and stealing motion helped by a hyper quick hip turn towards the path. Fast out of the box. Excelled in sliding drills for having perfect fundamentals. Expectation of double- digit steals even through final stages of physical development. Grade: 50
Overall: Light feet, above average hand/wrist ability, smooth, well honed fundamentals. Lower body bend/flexibility project high. Confident playing style and quiet swagger. Power will determine lots in his projection and he's got some built in at a young age. Motivation, focus off the field finalize an impressive profile. Orioles have lots of time. Development could go in several directions, most of them appear as positive today.
