Acquired: 2020 Round 4

Physical Description: Heavy set, boxy reliever body, barrel chested, will need a fair amount of conditioning to maintain average fitness level.

Delivery & Mechanics: Semi-windup; drop and drive; long arm action; over the top arm slot; average arm speed; high leg lift; good extension; gets downhill quick.

Fastball: Sits 90-93 mph, touching 94 mph at peak. Lives in the upper quadrants and it's good shape and ride allow him to miss bats with consistency despite below average velocity. Uses his fastball nearly 70% of the time and still manages to miss ungodly numbers with that pitch in particular. Lives around the zone and shows the ability to land it both arm and gloveside. Rarely works in the lower quadrants. Often his fastball and not his hammer curve is used as his out pitch. It's an above average fastball that could really play with a few added ticks in a pen role. Grade: 55

Curveball: Average curveball with big 12-6 downer drop. Sits 77-81 mph with late steep movement that generates lots of swings low. Tunnels well off of fastball and helps to change eye levels on hitters. Grade: 50

Changeup: Below average pitch with flashes of average but it's rarely used and he lacks feel for pronating with consistency. Sits 80-83 mph, and will show tumble and fade when he's able to turn it over. Grade: 40

Control and Command: Average strike thrower that does a good job of getting all of his pitches particularly his fastball over the plate. He will struggle to land his changeup, and his curveball's dynamic drop will lead to takes against more passive batters. Overall he sequences well with his fastball and curveball, and executes in the intended zones. Control: 50 | Command: 45

Overall: A three year starter at Troy he dominated during the shortened 2020 season, taking on teams like Florida, Louisiana, and Michigan State and looking every bit an SEC ace. It's a reliever profile suited for three to five outs with a fastball heavy one-two combo with his curveball. He could throw his curveball more if desired as it has excellent shape and he commands it well to the bottom or just below the zone. Lacks the physicality or pitch mix of a starter, but will need to add a few ticks to vaunt himself into a high leverage role.
