Evaluator: Jake Boes

Age: 24 yr
Height: 5-10
Weight: 175 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2018 Round 10 (TOR)
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Fairly average, well-proportioned frame. Strong chest and shoulders; slight taper with well-developed thighs and legs. Frame is currently at projection. Build reminds me of Adam Everett.

Hit: Open set up with a slight crouch to form a wide base. Hands at the ear with weight drastically favoring the back side. Crafty approach in the box; average bat speed generated from quick hands. Maximizes physical traits into swing; shows bat-to-ball skills with a slash-and-dash objective. Minimal power but shows good knowledge of the zone, which yields loads of free passes. Overall a fringe-average hit tool padded by limited strikeouts and ability to take walks. Grade: 50

Power: Near bottom-of-the-scale power; 15 home runs across over 700 minor league at-bats. Approach and frame are not conducive to over-the-fence pop. Legs will help to steal the occasional extra base hit. Power is currently at projection. Grade: 30

Field: Solid average defender; moves well but lacks a quick first step on reads occasionally. Strong glove work and shows the ability to steal hits on bloops. Could play at any outfield spot; likely profiles best in a corner long-term. Grade: 50

Arm: Below average arm strength; throws lack significant carry but capable of hitting cut offs and keeping throws on line. Likely a fringe-average tool long-term, not suited for right field. Grade: 45

Run: Above-average runner capable of double-digit steals across a full seasons. Short, choppy strides get him down the line and around the bases. Instinctive runner with strong technique; has enough to steal an occasional gapper in the field. Grade: 55

Overall: Stevenson likely has little room for play either way in his development; he's a textbook role 30 outfielder that may get a shot in the right situation. His speed and ability to handle the stick and control an at-bat will certainly play into his favor, but the lack of power and fielding prowess keep him from having a true carrying tool in the outfield. A valuable commodity to an organization, but not one that should be relied on for significant production for the parent club long-term.
