Evaluator: Geoff Pontes

Age: 22 yr
Height: 5-10
Weight: 200 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2020 Round 2 FAC
RuleV: 2023

Physical Description: Smaller build, lacks much strength or athleticism. Not much room for physical projection.

Hit: Sets open; front leg offset, hands set by back shoulder. Quick, flat swing geared toward putting the ball in play on the ground. Rarely swings and misses and shows the ability to make contact with pitches all over the zone and on the fringes. Can hit velocity and faired well versus 95+ in college and on the Cape. Will need to make changes to setup to unlock any potential power, but it's a plus contact tool with a strong approach. Grade: 55

Power: Poor power tool, mostly a singles hitter without the ability to ambush fastballs. Flat bat path and lack of punch limit his power upside. Likely to max out in the high single digits in homers and high teens in doubles. Grade: 30

Field: Limited defender due to lack of quickness and twitch. Soft hands and strong actions makeup for a lack of tools. Parked at second base with no position fitting his profile. Below average defender with a lack of versatility. Grade: 40

Arm: Fringe-average arm, suitable for his likely position of second base. Can make consignment on target throws to first with some zip. Grade: 45

Run: Below average runner, not a base stealer, hustles out of the box but does not put pressure on the defense with his speed. Bad fit for his offensive profile. Grade: 40

Overall: A single tool player but it just so happens to be the most important. A bat-first prospect with a lack of power or speed. There's no doubt that Glowenke will hit, but will it be for the type of impact that's necessary in the modern game? If he's able to make adjustments, add strength, and unlock unforeseen power; there's potential he earns a role as a bat first second baseman. But without improvement in that area he's relegated to an up and down profile.
