Dec 2020 Report

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 23 yr
Height: 6-1
Weight: 182 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2019 Draft - Round 12, COL
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Wiry and athletic frame. Sturdy and narrow torso with long legs. Strong lower half. Lanky build with room for added weight and muscle. Shows bits of speed and agility around the infield.

Hit: Short and compact right-handed stance. Crouched with extended elbows. Good timing and balance in his swing, stays within the ball. Upper and lower half stay connected to create good extension. Head stays down through contact, solid approach. Solid hit tool with good contact pull side. Quick hands pounce on pitches inside. Takes good hacks on the ball. Patient approach at the plate, stays deep in the count and knows his tendencies. Struggles to make solid contact to all fields. Tendency to swing heavy on off-speed away and up in the zone. Grade: 45

Power: More of a contact-oriented hitter, but showed glimpses of increased power. Creates good extension with extra base-hits to the gaps. Drives the ball pull side, little power to the opposite field. Showed signs of improvement, could improve raw power with more development. Grade: 40

Field: Average infielder with good range and instincts. Contorts his body, makes throws from difficult angles. Average speed to make up ground, good glove-to-hand transfers. May not stick at shortstop long term. Bounced around the infield, could be more suited at second or third base. Grade: 50

Arm: Average arm strength for an infielder. Gets the ball out quickly, but lacks desired velocity. Good accuracy from all three positions, throws remain on target. Makes the necessary throws. Calm and composed, throws aren't rushed. Lack of arm strength could point to a position change. Grade: 50

Run: Average speed with solid quickness and burst out of the box. Aggressive base stealer at times, lacks the top-end speed to steal bags consistently. Doesn't stretch for extra bases. Good glovework makes up for lack of speed defensively. Grade: 50

Overall: A 12th round pick out of UC Irvine in 2019, Koss showed glimpses of potential in his first pro season with the Rockies. His calm approach and ability to make solid contact stand out. He lacks pure raw power, but showed strides of improvement last season. His range and athleticism bodes well for his defensive prowess, though his average speed and arm could translate to second or third base.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 22 yr
Height: 5-10
Weight: 160 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2016 Round 10
RuleV: Eligible

Physical Description: Slender and wiry frame. Lacks standout physical features. Has added size to his upper and lower half. Good athletic traits, uses his smaller size to his advantage.

Hit: Changed his stance from upright to more crouched from the right side. Hands stay just above the letters and feet stay shoulder width apart. Bent knees and elbows with little bat movement in stance. Feet stay planted with a very subtle leg kick in load. Has quick hands, but struggles to make consistent contact. Flat swing path with prevalent pull-side approach. Swing-and-miss issues have plagued his offensive potential at times. Swing and approach needs polishing for offensive improvement. Grade: 45

Power: Struggles to tap into in-game power. Improved gap-to-gap ability, but lacks consistent over-the-fence power. Very little opposite field power, shows more pull-side pop to left field. Shows signs of improvement, but flat swing path limits raw power. Grade: 40

Field: Above-average fielding ability with good awareness and traits. Has good quickness and athleticism to snag grounders. Crisp glove-to-hand transfers. Makes the routine double 4-6-3 double play with little error. Capable fielder at the major league level. Grade: 55

Arm: Average arm strength that may limit him to second base. Lack of arm strength and accuracy on throws at times. Needs to improve his timing and velocity on throws from second base, limits his defensive ceiling. Grade: 50

Run: Plus-grade speed to steal bags. Has great quickness and burst out of the box. Has the top-end athleticism to stretch for extra bases. Good timing and jump to his base stealing ability. Speed and quickness makes him a constant threat on the basepaths. Grade: 60

Overall: Taylor's athleticism and defensive skills have been on display the past three seasons, but his offensive improvements leave much to be desired. He struggles to make consistent contact and has yet to tap into consistent in-game power. Taylor's limited offensive ceiling limits his overall potential within the organization.

Aug 2021 Report

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-1
Weight: 160 lbs
Hits/Throws: S/R
Acquired: 2018 CBB
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Shorter size, but filled out frame from top-to-bottom. Longer limbs and legs with a sound upper half. Packed on a good amount of muscle. Haven't seen much development this season due to injury.

Mechanics: High three-quarter delivery from the right side with a medium arm circle. Bit of a whip to his release. Creates average extension in his lower half, more focus on the arm and upper half. Lacks much extension and follow through; very little over-the-top motion. Still throws from a repeatable motion, but needs a bit more use in his lower half.

Fastball: Sits 91-93; tops 96 with some life towards the top of a zone. Some solid armside run; Has a feel for heat and spin. Solid offering as a whole. Throws it well up and away or down and low for whiffs. Above-average pitch at the next level. Grade: 55

Slider: Low-to-mid-80s slider that shows solid bite and horizontal break. Some late spin and movement to force soft contact. Zips out of the zone with a little tunnel to the fastball. Solid off-speed pitch that he throws consistently. Grade: 50

Changeup: Still looks to be a work in progress as a viable third pitch. Good velo take off the fastball at 82-84; but lacks much shape and fade. Sits a bit flat in the zone and gets barreled. Needs more development, reliant on the FB/SL combo. Grade: 40

Control and Command: Pounds the zone with the fastball, but doesn't show the best feel for his off-speed. Has strikeout stuff, forces S&M. Eats up too much of the zone and walks a fair share. Injuries and two-way play may have halted his ability to consistently find a feel for his arsenal. Needs to improve as a whole, has the raw stuff to play. Control: 40 | Command: 30

Overall: It is still up in the air where Dodson ends up given his two-way play as an outfielder and relief pitcher. I believe he has a much brighter future on the mound, hence the pitching grades. His fastball-slider combo forces some ugly swings with solid velocity and spin. His changeup still needs to develop to be seen as a reliable third pitch. But most importantly, Dodson needs to stay healthy and find a better feel for the zone to become a decent arm out of the bullpen.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 25 yr
Height: 6-3
Weight: 215 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2017 Round 13
RuleV: Eligible

Physical Description: Solid size and physical stature. Broader shoulders and a sound lower half. Considerable size added to his frame over the years.

Hit: Balanced swing from the left side; slightly bent knees shoulder width apart with elbows pointing outwards. Minimal hip rotation and pre-load movement, mostly hands and upper body control. Average bat speed to his pull-side on most occasions. Rockets a few heaters up the middle. Shows glimpses of quick hands for solid contact, lacks consistent output. Stays patient in the box, will draw a walk and rarely strikes out. Grade: 45

Power: Below-average pop that doesn't translate well in games. Flashes fringe-average raw pop, but struggles to turn on pitches for power. Sprays a few mistakes to the gaps in right-center. Lacks consistent over-the-fence power. Grade: 40

Field: Versatile defender capable of playing 2B, 1B and 3B on occasion. Doesn't excel at one position, but average movements makes him a fit at second or third base. Playing more on the hot corner this year. Shows solid instincts, stays on his toes for the play. Turns double plays with soft hands. Swift movements and lateral quickness. Grade: 50

Arm: Average arm strength capable of making routine throws. Solid accuracy, but lack of zip and carry limits where he plays on the dirt at times. Still makes the right play, doesn't get too wild. Solid defender with a sound arm. Grade: 50

Run: Fringe-average speed as he adds more size. Gets out of the box a little slow; takes a while to reach top-end speed. Lacks base stealing threat, but a smart runner. Shows some solid quickness and burst. Hustles on a lot of plays. Grade: 45

Overall: Gray's defensive versatility has been on full display this year, and he has the tools to be an average defender at a couple spots. He still struggles to meet the barrel consistently without much pop and hard contact. He is a patient hitter who can rip a few balls back up the middle. If the bat improves, that will go a long way. But he's more of a finished product at this point.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 24 yr
Height: 6-0
Weight: 185 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2018 Round 2
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Shorter in height, but packs a good amount of size in his frame. Little room to fill out and develop physically, reached full maturity. Injuries halted development.

Hit: : Compact right-handed swing; bent and low throughout his stance. Hands slightly above the letters, stays locked in throughout his pre-load. Solid approach and average bat speed. Shows a good feel for contact, pounces on some mistakes in the zone. Flatter swing path with little leverage, but works an at-bat. Injuries have stunted his growth the past two years. Grade:

Power: Below-average power at the plate. Flat swing path limits loft; lacks the strength to carry it. Showed some gap-to-gap power, but lacks over-the-fence pop. Grade:

Field: Average fielding ability with quick motions and lateral movements on the dirt. Stays on his feet to make plays, lacks the athleticism to play balls deep in the hole. More of a natural fit at second base given lack of exceptional defensive skills. Grade:

Arm: Average arm strength at second base. Throws come out accurate, lack much zip and carry. Smooth scoop-and-throw motions for double plays. Grade:

Run: Fringe-average speed across the board. Doesn't get out of the box effectively; some sluggish movements. Still moved well for his added size. Lacks top-end speed and burst, but is instinctive enough to steal a couple bags. Grade:

Overall: Injuries have severely halted Frank's progress, who is now 24 years old and still hasn't played in 2021. When he was somewhat healthy and playing in 2019, Frank showed average tools across the board with below-average pop at the plate. He has a solid approach, but lacks much upside and is now at a disadvantage two years later. Let's hope he gets back on the field soon.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 17 yr
Height: 6-1
Weight: 165 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2021 IFA
RuleV: 2025

Physical Description: Tall and lanky frame with plenty of projectibility. Needs to desperately add more size as he physically matures. Long limbs and arms.

Hit: Stands upright in the box from the right side; elbows bent with straight legs. Hands stay slightly above the letters. Slight left toe tap in pre-load; minimal movement. Intriguing potential, all raw ability at the plate. Shows some bat present bat speed, doesn't make much consistent hard contact. Hit tool can develop as he matures and receives more playing time Grade: 40

Power: Very little power with his present frame. Doesn't hit the ball hard for much contact, more of a slap-hit approach. More raw power can be added, but not much of a current tool at this point in his development. Grade: 30

Field: Shows solid range in center field with solid speed and instincts. Speed covers good ground to track fly balls in the air. Has the athleticism to stick in center long term with development. Grade: 50

Arm: Little footage on arm strength with throws from the outfield. Limited throws showed fringe-average carry and accuracy. Takes him some time to get into his motion; lacks the current arm strength to reach the infield on deep throws. Grade: 45

Run: Good athleticism and speed out of the box. Runs with a long, fluid stride with solid quickness. Shows the potential to be a base-stealing threat at the next level. Speed translates well defensively. Grade: 55

Overall: Piron was one of the Rays' top international signings in 2021. He is currently as raw as you can get with limited looks, footage and reports. He has a current blend of speed and defensive awareness, but he needs to physically mature and play to see the rest of his tools develop.

Age: 20 yr
Height: 5-11
Weight: 165 lbs
Hits/Throws: S/R
Acquired: 2018 IFA (CHC)
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Short and compact frame with a good amount of size to his build. Sound upper and lower half with room for more.

Hit: Sets up short and crouched from both sides; knees and elbows bent with arms locked in place. Minimal pre-load movement; subtle leg kick and toe tap for timing and rhythm. Aggressive approach, not afraid to swing heavy first pitch. Solid bat speed and contact from both sides; looks a bit more comfortable from the left with righties pitching him more inside. Flatter bat path, but simple swing and smooth motions. Strikeouts and power-heavy approach has held him back from getting on base more consistently. Raw tools evident, needs more polish at the plate. Grade: 50

Power: Enticing raw pop has yet to translate to games. Shows a good feel for a barrel, but flatter bat path limits power potential. Good strength to lift the ball at times, creates solid leverage. More gap-to-gap power present, sprays mistakes from either side. Shows potential, but power leaves more to be desired. Grade: 45

Field: Added size and weight has pushed him to more starts at third base. Doesn't move well enough to stick at short long term. Still looks like a natural fit for second base. Makes up average ground on the dirt with quick motions. Good awareness. Plenty of defensive versatility as a temporary fill-in at three infield spots. Grade: 50

Arm: Throws come out accurate with good zip and carry from all three spots. A bit of effort in release, but throws meet the target in time. Has the arm to make plays deep in the hole on occasion. Above-average arm strength and accuracy. Grade: 55

Run: Above-average athleticism in all facets. Quick feet out of the box with good acceleration. Covers good ground with his speed defensively. Overly aggressive base runner, lacks the top-end speed to swipe bags in any count or situation. May lose a step if he continues to add more size; it remains a vital part of his game. Grade: 55

Overall: Martinez has intriguing tools, but has yet to tap into them on a consistent basis. His raw power hasn't translated to this point, though he shows an average feel for the barrel. He offers some defensive versatility, but isn't great at one particular position. His speed is still a big facet of his game, but if he continues his hitting struggles, it may not matter much.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 20 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 190 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2018 Round 5
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Large and athletic frame; has added a decent amount of muscle during instructus. Shorter arms complement his thick lower half. Good size with more room for added weight as he develops into his body.

Mechanics: Tight and compact three-quarter delivery from the right side. Whippy arm action and immediate downhill plane. Solid extension; a bit of separation within his lower half. Lands stiff at times within his windup. Deliberate actions on the mound with a bit of effort in delivery.

Fastball: Mid-90s offering that continues to increase its velocity. Fastball sits 92-94 and has reached 95-96. Thrown with a good sink towards the bottom of the zone. Forces soft contact; though it lacks consistent swing and miss results. Thrown with fervor and solid command. Grade: 55

Curveball: Low-70s curveball that is tinkering on an above-average grade. Tightened rotation and spin gives it solid depth and 12-6 shape. Good break out of the zone. Still a bit loopy, eats up the plate. Solid offering with a chance to be even better down the road. Grade: 50

Slider: Low-to-mid 80s slider; sits 82-85 with wipeout movement. Horizontal break forces whiffs out of the zone. Thrown with more consistency, better command than his curveball to this point. Solid putout pitch in his repertoire. Hard break and movement gives it an edge as his most consistent off-speed pitch. Grade: 55

Changeup: Mid-80s changeup that shows potential. Sits 83-86 with good deception and drop off in velocity. Still lacks consistent shape and fade. Needs to develop a better feel for the pitch. Showing strides in its improvement, has a chance to be a decent fourth pitch. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Has the stuff to force whiffs, lacks solid command. Struggles to find a feel for the zone, leaves a lot over the plate. Doesn't particularly attack above the zone; stays at the knees and attacks the bottom two quadrants. Gives up a good amount of walks and hard contact. May need to smooth his mechanics to see improved command. Control: 45 | Command: 40

Overall: Bradley continues to grow into his body, and so does his velocity. His fastball is reaching the mid-90s while his slider and curveball aren't too far behind in its movement. There may be some reliever risk if Bradley doesn't hone in on his command, as his stuff does fade as he gets deeper in starts. He has the stuff, but learning how to pitch is a different animal at times.

Age: 25 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 220 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2017 Round 1
RuleV: On 40-Man Roster

Physical Description: Sound height and weight on the mound. Broad shoulders and sturdy lower half. Good athleticism for his size, uses it well in his delivery. Well-proportioned frame throughout.

Mechanics: High three-quarter delivery from the left side. Lifts right leg just above the belt before coming downhill in his operation. Repatale arm motion; creates good extension. Upper and lower half stay connected with each pitch. Simple mechanics play well in his delivery, pitches in one smooth motion.

Fastball: Mid-90s offering with subtle ride towards the top of the zone. Sits 92-95; reaches 97-98. Good velocity and late movement; forces consistent whifs on either side of the plate. Doesn't reach back for velocity, fastball thrown with a natural feel and touch. Above-average pitch in his deep arsenal. Grade: 55

Cutter: Mid-to-high 80s cutter with good movement. Sits 84-86; reaches 88-89. Manipulates it well with his fastball due to its late spin and movement. Effective offering against righties, ties them up at the hands. Sits a bit firm in the heart of the zone, but has enough velocity and movement as a reliable offering. Grade: 55

Curveball: Low-80s curveball with tight rotation and break; lacks consistency and depth. Sits 82-84 that breaks well of the out zone. Good strikeout pitch against lefties; heavy break off the plate. Immediate drop and movement plays well off his fastball-cutter combination. Another solid pitch thrown with confidence. Grade: 50

Changeup: Mid-80s changeup that was seldomly used in the big leagues two years ago. Has a chance to develop into a solid fourth pitch. Sits 85-87 with average depth and fade. Lacks tumble out of the zone, stays more firm. Shows improvement with its command. Can transform into a reliable offering with more reps and development. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Has a good makeup and feel for his three main pitches. Pounds all four corners of the zone. Dots low and away with his fastball and cutter. Curveball breaks out of the zone.Pitches with confidence; knows when and how to attack opposing hitters. Gives up seldom walks, but some pitches eat too much of the plate and get barreled as a result. Repeatable mechanics bode well to his feel and knowledge of the zone. Control: 55 | Command: 50

Overall: With a good feel for three solid pitches in a deep arsenal, McKay has what it takes to pitch at the highest level when healthy. He showed glimpses of two-way play with the Rays, but his future seems to be destined for the mound. McKay knows how to manipulate his pitches to force consistent whiffs, and his smooth mechanics are a big part of that. Injuries and command issues have held him back, especially his most recent left shoulder surgery. Time will tell if McKay returns to form as a hitter or pitcher, but he still has room for improvement at the big league level.

Age: 22 yr
Height: 6-4
Weight: 230 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2017 CBB (SD)
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Strong, physically imposing frame throughout. Broad shoulders and large arms compliment a trunky lower half. Starting to utilize his size well on both sides.

Hit: Sets up balanced and a bit wide from the right side. Legs stand shoulder width apart with a slight crouch. Hands remain well above the letters. More of a pronounced leg kick in his pre-load, starting to rotate his hips more upon contact. Still a bit stiff mechanically, but hits the ball hard with good strength. Starting to make adjustments by utilizing his lower half more in his pre-load. Stays patient, will draw a walk and wait to attack. Makes good pull-side contact with average bat speed. Still a work in progress, but showing more strides in his natural feel to hit. Grade: 45

Power: Above-average pop at the plate with good leverage and carry in his swing. Barrels balls to his pull-side with authority. Showing some more over-the-fence pop this season. Still sprays balls to the gaps in left-center. Physical strength exudes in his power, tapping into it more consistently. Grade: 55

Field: Showing signs of growth in his defensive ability behind the dish. Size hinders with lateral movements, but has sneaky athleticism and awareness. Blocks a solid amount of balls in the dirt. Solid pop time against opposing base stealers; gets up quick in a hurry. Improved upon his framing behind the dish with more room for growth. Grade: 50

Arm: Plus arm strength behind the dish. Throws come out like rockets with great accuracy. Makes throws from his knees with ease. Strength and athleticism translates to his strong arm; it's an absolute weapon. Grade: 60

Run: Huge size hinders much of his running ability. Not seen as a threat on base. Slow strides, doesn't get up to speed much. Grade: 30

Overall: Hunt is tapping into those tools this season, and it's beginning to show. He's showing a better feel for the strike zone and is getting on base more consistently with smoother mechanics. Power remains his strong suit with loud pull-side pop, and his arm is another go-to tool in his improved defensive ability behind the dish. He's still young and needs a bit more seasoning, but the results are promising for an everyday catcher with his physical ability.

Age: 23 yr
Height: 6-1
Weight: 160 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2017 IFA
RuleV: Eligible

Physical Description: Slender build on the mound. Lacks solid size and height, but uses his long arms and legs. Can add more weight to his frame, doesn't have eye-popping velocity.

Mechanics: Pitches from a high 3/4 slot, from the right side. Has a quick motion and high leg kick, gets good extension. No hiccups in delivery, clean mechanics throughout. Consistent delivery produces solid command.

Fastball: Low-to-mid 90s offering that lacks spin and movement. Fastball primarily sits 92-92, saw an uptick to 95-96 last season. Lacks swing-and-miss movement. Struggles with command at times, pitch gets barreled for extra bases. Average fastball offering. Grade: 50

Curveball: Low-to-mid 70s curveball that lacks consistency of a third pitch. Rarely thrown in his arsenal. Shows promising 12-6 break at times, lacks consistency and depth. Needs more reps and improvement. Grade: 30

Changeup: Low-80s changeup with great tunnel and depth. Changeup is a plus off-speed pitch with great depth and shape. Thrown low in the zone for plenty of whiffs. Dip in velocity from fastball creates good separation. Spots it well armside. Grades as plus pitch with great movement and shape. Grade: 60

Control and Command: Solid command makes up for lack of eye-popping stuff. Locates pitches well low and away. Has a great feel for his changeup, throws it with confidence in any count. Fastball hangs over the plate at times, needs improvement. Throws consistent strikes and forces soft contact. Control: 45 | Command: 40

Overall: Butto's changeup is arguably the best in the Mets' system, but the rest of his arsenal lacks eye-opening features. Despite an increase in velocity, His fastball remains inconsistent and needs improvement while his curveball is vastly behind as a third pitch. Butto's solid command gives him a safer floor as a reliever, but lacks the ceiling and stuff of a starter.

Curveball: Low-80s curveball that lacks consistency as a reliable off-speed pitch at its current state. Looks to be more in the developmental stages. Shows average depth, but lacks break out of the zone. Sits middle-in and gets hammered at times. Needs to improve feel for the pitch. Grade: 40

Slider: Another mid-80s off-speed pitch that shows more signs of consistency. Good break and spin for occasional whiffs on righties. Thrown tight and compact, shows better command of the pitch. Still needs more refinement and break for effective swing-and-miss results. Grade: 45

Changeup: Low-80s changeup used as a strikeout weapon in his arsenal. Sits 81-83 with good shape and tumble. Deceptive delivery pairs well with his fastball, both pitches look the same until his changeup falls off a table. Gets consistent swing-and-miss results; not always thrown in two-strike counts. Can be utilized more. Grade: 60

Control and Command: Clean delivery produces sound control and command. Attacks the zone low and away, forces soft contact. Lacks strikeout stuff outside of his changeup. Knows the ins and outs of the zone and throws with confidence. Pitches comfortably with runners on; rarely seems flustered. Command remains consistent while his off-speed offerings show signs of improvement. Control: 55 | Command: 50

Overall: Neidert's deceptive delivery produces an above-average fastball and plus changeup with great depth and shape, but the rest of his arsenal is still a bit behind. The right-hander makes up for his lack of elite stuff with good command of the zone. He has the makings of a backend starter or effective reliever if his off-speed pitches lag behind.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 24 yr
Height: 5-11
Weight: 200 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2016 Round 4
RuleV: On 40 Man Roster

Physical Description: Makes up for lack of height with his physical frame. Solid, compact build to his upper and lower half. Broad shoulders and thick thighs. Good physical traits on the mound.

Delivery & Mechanics: Shortened 3/4 arm slot delivery from the left side. Doesn't get much over-the-top action. Clean, fluid arm action with little hiccups in delivery. Good extension and placement from the stretch.

Fastball: Mid-90s offering with good sink and fade out of the zone. Four seam fastball Touches 95-96, sinker primarily sits 92-94. Spots it well low and away. Has late life for whiffs and soft contact. Good velocity and late movement play well off one another. Above-average pitch in his arsenal. Grade: 55

Slider: Mid-80s slider that needs a bit more refinement as a consistent offering. Sits 83-85 with good horizontal break, lacks consistency at times. Slider tends to stay flat up in the zone and gets barreled for extra bases. Ability to command the pitch against righties can help tremendously. Grade: 50

Changeup: Another mid-80s offering that shows potential as a solid third pitch. Changeup sits 84-85, takes a good amount of velocity to his fastball. Good sink and armside fade, lacks reps and consistency. Occasionally thrown in the big leagues last year. Capable of becoming an above-average pitch, needs to show it over the course of a season. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Throws high-quality strikes and fills the zone with a bulldog mentality. Struggled to command his off-speed in the big leagues, but steadily improved over the year. Locates his sinker/fastball well in the zone for whiffs. Has strikeout quality stuff, hits his spots well. Surrendered lots of extra base hits, controlling his repertoire will pay dividends down the road. Control: 45 | Command: 40

Overall: Romero flashed his quality stuff in his big league debut last season, but struggles with command held him back at points. His sinker and four seam fastball have such distinct movements and sustained velocity that play well off each other. Romero's slider and changeup have good movement and break, but his ability to command each one will likely reveal his role as a reliever.

RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Short and slender build lacking standout features. Wiry, athletic frame with long legs. More room for added muscle and weight as he matures. Has the physical tools to become a top-end athlete.

Hit: Active load and swing path from both sides of the plate. Hands stay well above the letters and legs stay shoulder width apart. Lots of pre-pitch movement in his hands and feet, doesn't stay set in the box. Developed a leg kick within his load to calm his approach for better contact and pitch recognition. Quick hands produce solid contact to all fields. Aggressive first-pitch swinger. Punishes fastballs in the zone, struggles mightily with off-speed stuff. Looks more comfortable from the right side, but has untapped potential in switch-hitting ability. Tools are present, lacks a refined approach. Grade: 50

Power: Struggles to hit for consistent power at this stage in his development. Lacks in-game and raw power, showed more glimpses last season. Doesn't pull the ball effectively well. Room for more power as he matures physically. Has the tools and physical ability to produce more XBH and homers. Grade: 30

Field: Has a great feel for his defensive ability. Has a smooth and quick glove-to-hand transfer. Covers ground with his athleticism. Shows the ability to play on the dirt long term. Good instincts, plays the ball consistently and effectively. Stays on his toes, turns double plays with ease. Plus tool with his overall makeup defensively. Grade: 60

Arm: Above-average arm strength and accuracy from the infield. Throws are crisp with great zip and touch.Makes difficult throws from awkward angles. Makes throws from either side in part to his strong arm. Near plus tool that bodes well for his defensive fit. Grade: 55

Run: Above-average speed and quickness. Has a good burst out of the box, translates well defensively. Lacks long strides, but has short bursts of acceleration. Has the top-end speed to steal bags. Aggressive base stealer, needs to slow down and perfect his jump to make the most of his athleticism and base-stealing ability. Grade: 55

Overall: One of the most highly touted 2018 international signings, Garcia's array of tools continue to develop. He has a true defensive skill set with crisp fielding and a near plus-grade arm. His offensive approach and ability to tap into more consistent contact and power need to improve to fulfill his sky-high ceiling.

Evaluator: Joe Doyle

Age: 22 yr
Height: 6-2
Weight: 185 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2016 IFA
RuleV: On 40-Man Roster

Physical Description: Makes up for his shorter height on the mound with a well-rounded build. Good strength to his upper half with broad shoulders and chest. Solid strength and size to his frame.

Delivery & Mechanics: Good extension and arm action from the right side. Quick delivery, no noticeable hiccups from the windup or stretch. Methodical approach and slight hesitation with his right leg within windup. Arm is locked in and compact through each pitch. Produces quality stuff, needs to refine command.

Fastball: Plus fastball with great velocity and late bite. Sits 93-95 and touches 97. Continues to add consistent velocity with each season. Has good spin and bite, thrown up in the zone for whiffs. Fastball is thrown with zip, great first pitch in his arsenal. Grade: 60

Slider: Mid-80s slider that serves as a quality out pitch. Has a cutter-esque break on both sides of the plate, mixes well with his fastball. Late movement creates several swings and misses. Raw break is evident, just lacks refinement. Grade: 55

Changeup: Another mid-80s offering that continues to develop. Changeup has touched 86-87 and doesn't offer much velocity separation. Shows signs of fade and run, but sits firm in the zone. Has potential to be a quality off-speed pitch. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Has the raw stuff and velocity, but needs to improve on his command. Gets behind the count and struggles to find the zone in his outings. Doesn't locate well inside. Quick delivery bodes well for his fastball command. Needs more well-placed strikes from his secondaries. Command struggles may hold him back from being a starter. Control: 40 | Command: 30

Overall: Adon has the velocity and raw stuff that continues to improve. His fastball consistently sits in the mid-90s along with a hard-breaking slider and effective changeup. Adon must refine his command and polish his secondaries to fulfill a starter role, but his fastball can make him an effective bullpen option.

Physical Description: Tall and sturdy right-hander on the mound. Solid and lanky build. Filled out frame with broad shoulders. Long arms and legs. Strong lower half that plays within his delivery.

Delivery & Mechanics: Standard 3/4 arm slot from the windup/stretch. Loose extension and follow through, struggles with command. Lots of moving parts with his upper and lower half, gets wild at times. Inconsistent delivery that needs to be tinkered with.

Fastball: Mid-90s offering with good life and ride towards the top of the zone. Fastball typically sits 93-94, but occasionally reaches 96-97 mph. Good plane to the pitch, doesn't sell out for max velocity. Spots it well armside. Grade: 55

Curveball: Mid-70s breaking ball with solid depth, though a bit behind in development to his slider. Tends to hang in the zone, lacks consistent shape and break. Shows signs of improvement with good dip and break. Grades as average off-speed pitch with room for growth. Grade: 50

Slider: Mid-80s slider with good break and spin. Go-to off-speed pitch. Throws it hard to the plate with late dive to force whiffs. Consistent velocity and break makes it effective. Struggles with command holds back its full potential. Effective offering that flashes signs a true plus pitch. Grade: 55

Changeup: Mid-80s changeup that keeps improving. Still a bit firm in the zone, but plays it well off his fastball. Throws it with late bite against lefties. Needs more refinement as a fourth pitch, but has shown improved development and growth. Grade: 45

Control and Command: Has good stuff, but command and control holds back its potential. Fits more of the reliever role. Struggles to find the zone consistently. Let's the count run deep, has trouble putting away batters. Needs to refine his mechanics to throw more quality strikes. Control: 45 | Command: 40

Overall: Patrick Weigel has the physical build and arsenal, but struggles with his command and control holds him back at times. His fastball and slider stick out the most amongst his four pitches with good velocity and movement. He needs to refine his arm action to secure a permanent role in the Braves bullpen.

Physical Description: Sturdy and compact frame. Good size to upper half, chest and arms filled out with added muscle. Wide shoulders with strong legs. Good overall body strength with added weight to his frame.

Delivery & Mechanics: Long and Loose arm action with standard three-quarter delivery. Good extension and follow through. Repeatable. High right leg kick from the windup. Arm action can be shortened up. Tendency to get wild from the stretch. Struggles with command, showed signs of improvement in pro ball.

Fastball: Low-90s offering with a bit of life. Velocity holds. Shows good command low in the zone. Struggles with armside command. Added velocity and movement can improve the pitch. Grade: 45

Curveball: Low-to-mid 70s breaking ball that lacks consistent depth and break. Doesn't command his curveball effectively. Tendency to spike. Has a bit of late movement, needs more refinement and reps. Grade: 40

Slider: Low-80s offering that lacks depth and horizontal movement. Can get flat at times, left hanging in the zone too often. Struggles with command and location consistently. Has shown flashes of effectiveness. Improved command and life necessary. Grade: 45

Changeup: Low-80s off-speed pitch with good fade and tumble. Has solid arm speed. Late fade, forces soft contact and ground balls. Locates changeup well, thrown with confidence. Good secondary offering. Grade: 50

Control and Command: Struggles with control and command. Can't locate pitches for strikes consistently. Changeup and fastball showed improvement in location. Mixes his pitches well, needs more refinement to maximize his stuff. Attacks batters, forces ground balls to escape a jam. Showed signs of improved command last season. Control: 45 | Command: 45

Overall: A fourth-round pick by the Mariners in 2019, Tim Elliott made strides in his improvement last season in pro ball. His stuff lacks velocity and movement. He mixes his pitches well in the count and has a repeatable delivery. Almost assuredly a reliever. Must work to command his arsenal.

Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 26 yr
Height: 6-4
Weight: 190 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/R
Acquired: 2017 Draft - 3rd Round
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Tall and solid build throughout. Upper and lower half fills out for the most part with strong legs and broad shoulders. Does hunch over at times on the mound, may be more due to his delivery. May not show aggression or intensity, but has good poise. Doesn't seem rattled with runners on base. Fights back in the count.

Delivery & Mechanics: Low arm action, throws low to the waist with a long arm slinging slot. Ball releases quick, but not consistent and repeatable. Some effort in overall arm action with how much tork goes into his whole body after every pitch. Hooks his arm behind his body at times, just cocks it back and sling it. Funky three-quarter "submarine" delivery. Elbow gets low to the ground and bends over after each sequence. Not very smooth, repeatable or consistent, but still effective. Ball comes out quick and keeps batters off guard. May see some effort concerns with his delivery, nothing "violent" just something to keep an eye on moving forward.

Fastball: Solid low-90s fastball with good sink that runs off the plate. May dip to the high-80s in velocity at times, but the sinking action makes it effective. Good pitch to jam lefties and righties inside, force ground balls to the infield. Good pitch from the stretch with runners on, but nothing special in terms of movement or velocity. Grade: 50

Slider: Good low-80s off-speed pitch that forces whiffs, makes a nice pairing with his fastball. Often throws it in two-strike counts with solid break at the hands against righties. His funky delivery may hide this pitch until it breaks at the plate. May tail outside the zone, as well. Solid spin rate and good offering as a whole. Grade: 55

Changeup: Very early in development, rarely thrown. Primarily a two-pitch mix with slider/fastball. Could offer a dip in velocity, but stays flat in the zone and not thrown with confidence. Still could become a third offering in his repertoire, but nothing stands out at the moment. Grade:

Control and Command: Struggles to consistently find the zone and hit his spot. Has trouble locating fastball on the outside corner to righties. Slider may break way inside the plate for an easily called ball. When falling behind in the count, he battles back with a few good placed fastballs or sliders. When his control is good, he gets out of jams with RISP with a softly hit ground ball, possible double play. Still struggles to hit his target consistently, and it leads to several walks in an outing. Control: 50 | Command: 50

Overall: Mills is a typical low three-quarter slot submarine reliever out of the bullpen. He has a good fastball/slider combination that has good spin rates to force swings and misses or ground balls. His changeup is nothing special at the moment and is rarely thrown, but it could develop into a third pitch with time. His command and control keeps him from getting consistent outs as he goes up in level, as shown by his high BB/9 rate in Double-A last season. Regardless, he faced tough competition last year and held his own for the most part. Doesn't have much of a ceiling, but could become a MLB contributor out of the bullpen.

Age: 20 yr
Height: 6-0
Weight: 190 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/L
Acquired: 2019 Draft - Round 7
RuleV: 2024

Physical Description: Sturdy build with long arms. Smaller frame with more room to grow and add more muscle. Has more lower body strength than upper body strength currently. Long legs with narrow upper half build.

Fastball: Low 90s offering with some ride. Has touched 95 in offseason bullpens. Ball sneaks up on hitters with a little deception in his delivery. Likes to play fastball up in the zone. Not the biggest frame and doesn't get elite extension, so skeptical on future velo gains. Command is average. Grade: 50

Curveball: Low-70s off-speed pitch that has some good break to it. Has a good feel for his curveball and commands it well. Late break induces swings and misses. A bit inconsistent/loopy at times. Inconsistent break. Added velo would benefit efficiency. Grade: 45

Changeup: Armspeed and some fade present. Low to mid 80s offering provides good separation so long as the fastball is on. Spots it well low and locates. Has confidence and a good feel for it in any count, just lacks consistency. Work in progress, but flashes. Grade: 40

Control and Command: Solid control and command for a prep arm. Typically locates his curveball better than his fastball. Curveball breaks well out of the zone. Fastball command will be critical in future role. Control: 40 | Command: 40

Overall: Macko is very raw and needs some time to develop in the system. His command and control for a prep lefty is promising up to this point, but his stuff and recent velo will need to stick if he's to potentially hang on to a future starter role. He started two games in Seattle's AZL last season, but likely fits more a relief profile long-term.

Age: 19 yr
Height: 5-7
Weight: 165 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2018 IFA
RuleV: 2023

Physical Description: Small in height, but has a muscular and built frame throughout. Very filled out with broad shoulders and large biceps for a 5-foot-8 outfielder. Strong lower half. Athleticism across the board, flies around the basepaths. Not the most optimised physique, still has time to bulk up more. Has a tireless work ethic and competitive drive to get better, lifting weights in the weightroom or getting extra swings in the cage. Showed very impressive instincts and motivation for an 18-year-old in his first pro season.

Hit: Open left-handed stance with an overall balanced approach, may lean a bit on his back left leg within his load. Right leg kick, uses some of his lower half to stay with the ball. Strong, high follow through, let's his hands do the work with a fluid stroke to all fields. Lacks elite bat speed and still needs to make consistent contact. Sound approach, waits for his pitch and has good patience. More room for improvement, very young. Grade: 55

Power: Hasn't shown much raw power in first season, but taps into some based upon physical strength and sound approach at the plate. Makes hard contact, just not enough to drive the ball for homers. Has more gap power at the moment, but shown ability to collect some over the fence pop. Has shown the ability to drive the ball the other way. May need to shorten swing, mature physically to fully tap into power potential. Grade: 30

Field: Has makings of above-average fielder with his physical traits. Gets a good jump on the ball with impressive instincts. Times the ball well in the air. Ranges to his left to track the ball. Fluid movements, not much choppiness out there. Makes the occasional mental error, loses the ball or tips off his glove. Good instincts and speed to make a reliable outfielder. Grade: 50

Arm: Fringe-average arm that needs improvement. Ball lacks zip and speed to the infield or home plate. Quick movement to get rid of the ball. Throws can be off target at times. Decent arm strength to stay in center field with more time and development. Grade: 40

Run: Very good speed that makes him a serious threat on the basepaths. Sprints out of the box with long strides and quickness. Makes the most of his smaller size to jump at any opportunity to grab an extra bag. Eye popping quickness that is utilized offensively and defensively. A bit too aggressive to steal bags at times, but profiles a 30-base stealer at the next level Grade: 60

Overall: In part to his hard work and dedication, Clase has made the most of his physical abilities thus far. Don't let his height and weight fool you, he has a solid muscular build that stands out immediately. He's showcased a good hit tool and eye-popping speed to potentially become a top-of-the-order center fielder if he reaches his ceiling. In order to get there, he needs to add more power and refine some things defensively and on the basepaths. There's plenty of room for growth in the teenage speedster, and he can move steadily through the system if his array tools come together.
