Evaluator: Isaiah Burrows

Age: 23 yr
Height: 5-10
Weight: 175 lbs
Hits/Throws: L/R
Acquired: 2019 Round 8
RuleV: 2022

Physical Description: Wiry and athletic frame. Fairly ordinary muscular build with long arms and legs. Good strength for his compact size. Incorporates lower half into his swing. Near full maturity, little room for development.

Hit: Closed and compact left-handed stance. Hands stay slightly above the letters. Feet stay shoulder width apart in the box. Added a more prevalent right leg kick within his load. Has a tendency to stay on his back foot. Makes adequate contact to the opposite field. Solid approach, takes pitches the other way. Lacks consistent hard contact, soft grounders sneak through the infield. Needs to adjust to big league pitching. Grade: 45

Power: Struggles to tap into much in-game power. Occasionally hits hard-hit balls to the outfield. Has more of a contact-oriented approach. Lacks ability to consistently drive the ball for extra bases. Doesn't get the ball in the air. Grade: 30

Field: Shows the defensive ability to potentially stick at shortstop or second base long term. Crisp movements and instincts, always on his toes. Makes up solid ground and has good timing where to play the ball. Gets the ball out quickly on double plays. Solid traits as a defender. Grade: 50

Arm: Fringe-average arm from the infield. Throws have good accuracy, but lack the needed velocity from shortstop. Needs to improve his arm strength for more consistent throws from the infield. Grade: 45

Run: Flashes plus-speed and athleticism. Has immediate burst out of the box, with quick strides and good acceleration. Reaches first to third in a hurry. Speed and hustle stretches for extra bases. Makes the most of his athletic traits as an aggressive base stealer and runner. Grade: 60

Overall: A torn achilles hurt Hamilton's draft stock in 2019 out of Texas, but his athleticism and defensive tools speak for themselves. His hit tool and power limit his offensive ceiling, but he's showcased the ability to potentially stay on the dirt long term.
