Feb 2021 Report

Evaluator: Trevor Hooth

Age: 22 yr
Height: 6-3
Weight: 180 lbs
Hits/Throws: R/L
Acquired: 2017 Round 5
RuleV: 2021

Physical Description: Long limbs for his size. Sloping shoulders. There is some more room to add to the frame.

Delivery & Mechanics: Standard 3/4 arm slot. Easy, repeatable delivery. Works quickly, likes to get the ball and go. Body starts off center towards first base. Hands are at his neck and drop to his stomach on the rocker step. As his leg comes up for his balance point the hands rise before they all push down together. He lands slightly closed off, so he throws across his body. His foot drags on the follow throw before coming up for a small leg kick at the end, and he finishes square to the plate.

Fastball: 87-89 T92. Pretty straight, some arm-side run when thrown to the arm side. He commands this pitch well and can spot it all around the zone. Works well off other pitches, and can even become a whiff creator when the other pitches are working. Creates a lot of fly balls. When the other pitches aren't complimenting this pitch, it can be hit around a lot. The command of his entire arsenal helps this pitch to play up in times during games, but it needs a few ticks to really get up a half grade or more. Grade: 45

Curveball: 73-75. Works best when it takes on a 12-6 shape, but every so often it can bleed into the slider and look like more of a slurve. Will use in any count. Can spot to the corners. It can get loopy, and when it does it becomes hittable. It's best used as an asset to create weak contact rather than whiffs. Grade: 45

Slider: 82-84. Sharp sweep on the movement. There is a small amount of depth as well. He likes this pitch a lot against lefties, but he does use it to change pace for righties as well. His ability to create whiffs with it is as a backdoor pitch to righties. He commands this pitch very well to both sides of the plate. Grade: 50

Changeup: 80-81. Good deception. Tumbled at the bottom of the zone. This pitch garners some ugly swings. It can go under utilized sometimes. When it isn't getting whiffs, it's getting a weak grounder. It's his best pitch. Results, coupled with his command of the pitch make it an above average offering. Grade: 55

Control and Command: Not only does Lindow throw a lot of strikes, he throws a lot of competitive strikes. He posted above average walk and strikeout numbers in the lower levels of the minors. He can control his entire arsenal to both sides of the plate. He rarely misses badly off his intended target. Most of his misses are below the zone or just off of a corner. His control is easily plus and the command is not too far behind it. Control: 60 | Command: 55

Overall: The biggest detractor from Lindow is his below average velocity across the board. He really fits the mold of a crafty lefty. His ability to command all four of his pitches around the zone is what helps him to be successful. There is some projection left on the frame, and any ticks on the fastball will help. Even 3-4 MPH extra could make Lindow really pop. As is though he should be able to start games at the major league level.
